We had the good fortune of connecting with Max Perry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Max, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I feel like the best businesses are built on solving problems. Coming into the music business as a producer, music publishing can be an extremely difficult world to navigate. Once I completely learned the music publishing business from a larger macro perspective I was able to fully monetize my creative assets. My next inclination was to help all my music business colleagues and associates in the same manner. Our goal at Intellectual Property Collections is to help level the playing field for all creators in order to help traverse a very difficult industry that is frankly setup for us to lose and place every hurdle in our way.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Ultimately my process is what separates me from others. My extreme dedication to getting the best job done possible and pushing myself beyond what I think I’m capable of. I got to where I am by never giving up. This game is survival of the fittest combined with the last man standing. It’s a marathon. Nothing great comes easy. This is only meant for the chosen few that can champion all the hardships and keep going harder.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My father. My dad was the one that instilled the belief in me that this crazy dream was possible and more importantly how to get it done. He taught me many things in life but there are 2 principles that helped govern my life into great places. 1. Simply put, NO CAN’T! Meaning, there’s nothing that can’t be done. 2. The satisfaction of a job well done. This serves as the ultimate quality control for anything that I do in life. The internal moral code that pushes me to be the absolute best version of myself that I can possibly be. This changed my life forever.
