Meet Maythal Eshaghian | Anxiety & OCD Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Maythal Eshaghian and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maythal, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
One of my favorite quotes is by Maya Angelou: “You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.”
This quote by Maya Angelou is a powerful reminder because it emphasizes the importance of agency and inner strength in the face of life’s challenges. While we cannot always control the circumstances we encounter, we do have the power to choose our response. It speaks to the idea that adversity doesn’t have to define us or diminish our sense of self-worth. Instead, we can rise above difficult situations by maintaining our dignity and resilience. This perspective encourages us to focus on our ability to persevere and grow, even when circumstances are beyond our control. It reminds us that our inner strength is always available to us, no matter what life throws our way.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The name of my practice is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy LA, where we specialize in treating anxiety, OCD, and other obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders, including body-focused repetitive behaviors like trichotillomania and skin picking disorder. We use evidence-based treatments, such as exposure and response prevention, acceptance and commitment therapy, and habit reversal training, to address these challenges effectively. To accommodate your needs, we offer virtual therapy sessions for convenience.
I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to treatment, as each client has a unique background and symptoms. I treat my clients with compassion, empathy, and understanding, providing personalized care to help them return to their normal baseline functioning.
Anxiety disorders can be incredibly challenging and often significantly impact quality of life. I take pride in helping my clients learn how to manage their anxiety and live a life aligned with their values. Taking the first step is crucial—give yourself the support you deserve as you move towards your values and reclaim control over your life from anxiety.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting, I’d start the day with a hike at Los Liones Trail. It’s one of my favorite spots—a great place for views and a good way to start the morning. After the hike, we’d head to Urth Caffé for my favorite almond croissant and a Spanish latte. There’s nothing better after a hike.
Then we’d probably explore the city. I really enjoy the Third Street Promenade—there’s always something fun going on, and the shops are great. Plus, it’s right by the ocean, so we could take a nice walk along the beach after checking out the stores.
