We had the good fortune of connecting with Meagan A. Culberson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Meagan, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Since the pandemic my work life balance has changed drastically. I used to live with this mentality that I had to earn my relaxation, but now I’ve come to realize that I am allowed to rest whenever my body needs it. Having the right balance allows me to enjoy the fruits of my labor and because I’ve set up strategies that will help me to maintain this balance I feel that life is much more enjoyable.
What should our readers know about your business?
I have a lifestyle website called SingleGirlClub.com. The mission of the site is to encourage single women to build a better and stronger relationship with themselves. I originally created the platform as a way to vent about the difficulties of dating in LA but after certain life events, I was inspired to share my personal growth story and how I was practicing self love. The site has educational articles about mental wellness, beauty tips, book recommendations, and highlights the accomplishments of other single women in our monthly Woman Crush posts. I want the platform to be a place where single women can come for encouragement and get inspired to focus on their goals during their singleness journey.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love being a tour guide and LA has so many great places to explore! A hike at Griffith Park would be the first thing on the itinerary followed by a delicious breakfast at my favorite cafe Doubting Thomas in Echo Park. Next, a day of thrift shopping on Melrose and grabbing drinks at a fun rooftop bar like Mama’s Shelter. I would also take my friend to one of my favorite day parties called Ice Cream Sundays at Lock & Key. One thing I love most about this city is that it is filled with so many different creatives which means there is always something fun to do!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to shout out one of my best friends and fellow entrepreneur, Khelli Dowdell! She is an amazing business woman and a phenomenal friend.
She encourages me, motivates me, and holds me accountable. She is the Owner and Creator of the menswear line called Groomher. It is a clothing line created for men by a girl who loves them and her pieces are affordable, stylish, and comfortable. I highly recommend everyone who likes menswear check out her site Groomher.co. Additionally, I would not be where I am now without the support and encouragement from my family and all of my friends. To my mother and baby brother who give me words of encouragement and to everyone a part of my tribe that have shared countless amounts of wisdom and have given me guidance, thank you! I am incredibly grateful for you all and your love and support keeps me motivated.
