We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Evans and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Megan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?

Well, I was a personal wardrobe stylist in New York and LA for over a decade, and I having been lived with Multiple Sclerosis for almost 19 years now. I was diagnosed at only 24 years old. 5 years ago after having my worst MS episode ever, I was forced to take a year off of styling. I was truly working myself into the ground, and although I loved my work, it was becoming way too much for me physically. That break gave me the time to do some deep self-work at which point I discovered I had been resisting my MS diagnosis instead of fully embracing and accepting it on a deeper level for a long time.

I began meditating more and doing moving meditation work, and for 3 years went on a mission to further my practice. I got trained by Gabby Bernstein in teaching meditations, and I began to create my own method. I created a series of practices and tools that helped me. I knew I was onto something, and I also recognized a gap in the MS support community for this kind of mind, body, spirit work to help people delve into their true essence and find presence to rediscover that they can in fact still pursue their passions. So I developed my own method to help other women around the world learn to prioritize themselves and get in touch with their relationship to their MS and their symptoms on a deeper level.

That is why I created The MS Stage and The MS Stage Method! Ultimately, I felt called on a higher level.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

What sets The MS Stage apart is that there is literally nothing else like it. I lead small groups of women on Zoom through a 6-week program I created to turn their symptoms into their superpowers and learn how to change their mindset around their relationship to MS and their day-to-day symptoms. I developed mindfulness practices through meditations with music, dancing through emotions, and being present in their stories.

I am most proud of the amazing impact the The MS Stage Method has already had on women. The shifts I have witnessed have been truly amazing like gaining better control over their incontinence, walking 11,000 steps, learning to swim and even enjoy rock climbing again. I am most excited about the possibilities of where/how The MS Stage Method will serve so many women in the MS community around the world.

I got to where I am first through my heart. Listening to what was calling to me and then becoming incredibly dedicated to the work. It is a true devotion to service and helping others exceed on their MS journeys. It is not easy in the sense of the time and hard work it takes, but it does come with ease because I enjoy the work and I know it is helping others.

Lessons I have learned is to always stay open to possibilities. To always stay open to what the universe is presenting you with your business and when you are on the right path, doing what you love, many doors will open.

It is never too late. I am 43 years old now and starting over with what I believe I am truly meant to leave behind in this world. It took what felt like a long road to get here but if it hadn’t been for my own MS diagnosis and journey and many jobs and another career in between, I wouldn’t now be living my true calling and have created something totally unique. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

I would like to dedicate my Shoutout to Jeanne Grabowski. Jeanne is a Career Transition and Brand Strategist who I went to with a crazy idea of creating a program for small groups of women around the world with MS and thanks to her encouragement, guidance, and coaching, The MS Stage was born. It was thanks to Jeanne that I also began the work of Ishtara Body with Tracy Harward for the past 2 years, which then connected me to voice lessons with Molly Noerenberg at Expressed Life. These are the women that have guided me back to my body and back to my roots to discover that theater and dance were still buried inside me itching to come out to help other women in a new way!
