We had the good fortune of connecting with Melissa Vogel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Melissa, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
Leading by example! Children are very “monkey see, monkey do” so from the moment my children were born it was important for me to be the their role model. I didn’t want them to have to look up to actors, singers, performers, etc for inspiration or motivation. I wanted to be that person. So for me staying the best shape of my life and showing them that taking care of yourself physically, mentally and emotionally is key. When they see me showing up for me it teaches them self discipline early on as well as self love and confidence. Making yourself a priority isn’t selfish, it’s essential to be the best version of ourselves and to teach our children to to the same thing. Then you know you are raising confidence, strong, capable human beings. 

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a fitness professional and actress. I have been a personal trainer and group fitness instruction for over 15 years. I teach and coach women how to be fit for life…not just a season. I own and operate the online fitness program called Busy To Bomb Fit Mom. Through this program I am able to help women not only become more fit and lose weight, but also make lifestyle and habit changes for life! I don’t do 6 week challenges where the client only eats a strict diet and works out like crazy. That is what every other program and trainer on the market does. I teach and coach women how to eat in a way that they can sustain so they don’t ever feel like they are on a diet. Losing weight and getting in shape should be treated as a marathon not a sprint. I coach women how to improve their self worth, confidence and love. They need to see that they are worth the energy, effort, time, EVERYTHING that needs to be put in to staying healthy and strong. I tell my clients all the time that if i don’t get them fit mentally as well as physically their results will never last. I learned all of this and created this program out of my own personally fitness journey. As a mom of three it isn’t easy to get back in shape after having kids. I learned the hard way that short cuts are short term and never last. I was tired of being on the rollercoaster and was ready to get off. So I created a system that I personally use to to lose 65+ lbs and keep it off. It wasn’t easy, but going through the difficult times and different stages is what made me a better coach. I am able to relate to the struggles and challenges that my clients face. Ive been there and know exactly what that feels like. This has allowed me to show them alternatives and how to work through their challenges without giving up. I want the world to know that your fitness journey shouldn’t be quick and easy. We live in an instant gratification world and we expect the same results with our bodies. If six pack abs don’t show up after eating one salad we are mad. But my brand and message is different. I want people to learn to fall in love with the process. Collect data on your body and learn what works and what doesn’t. This way when “life happens” you don’t get derailed for 6 months. You have the tools and mindset to push forward and accomplish anything. With the right environment, coaching, support, nutrition and workouts this is all possible and it WILL LAST.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely hit Old Town Temecula. I love vibe and energy. All the restaurants are amazing but I do love Lukes on front street. The winery’s are a must as well but then we would hit the beach. La Jolla is my favorite and I love climbing and exploring all the different cliffs and views!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My friends! I keep my circle small and tight and those few women that I call my friends have been my everything this past year. They have been for me when I have laughed and cried and even when my world fell apart and I had to move. We work and workout together but also know how to let loose and have a good time. I would not be where I am at today if it wasn’t for this core group of women that love and accept me for who I am.
