We had the good fortune of connecting with Melody Goliday and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Melody, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
I am a parent of a 6 year old little girl, her name is Ariane. I think the most important thing I’ve done as a parent in terms of the impact of my child would be showing her that anything is possible when you have faith in yourself. The journey of being a parent is never easy. In the 6 years of my parenthood I have accomplished many things like becoming an author as well as completing 2 degree programs. It’s not easy but I knew for sure that my child was watching. I had to keep believing in myself and keep pushing. I know that this will have a great impact on my child in the long run when she understands. Because I am leading by example.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a first time author. I have recently published a children’s book titled “The Reason She Has Sparkles” this book was created to inspire every little brown girl to never let anything dim their sparkle. I created this book at a time in my self-love journey when I begin to realize I am enough. I decided that I was not going to question myself and who I am because I love me. I wrote this book with hopes that it will follow little girl through life. I loved reading when I was younger. But I don’t remember reading any books that stuck with me through life. So I decided to create one myself.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family deserves a lot of credit in my story. I don’t know how I would maintain being a full time mom, full time employee, full time student and author without them. They ease my load when it comes to being supportive of my child. Taking on many roles is never easy. But because of them they make it me look like a super hero!
