We had the good fortune of connecting with Merley Greenidge and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Merley, what are you inspired by?
Inspiration comes from so many sources and for me it starts with nature. The sound of the crashing waves at the beach, watching the hummingbirds in my backyard as they enjoy the nectar that I prepare for them and the sight of wild flowers blooming on my morning walks always fuel me. I’m also deeply inspired by the creativity of my three daughters who express themselves through art, design, dance and music. Another highlight is the virtual chats I have with my two 6 year old nieces who inspire and remind me to laugh and play more. Last but not the least, I’m inspired by the countless number of women who are sharing their life stories. Quite frankly, there is no shortage of inspiration. One must simply seek to be inspired.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Celebrate Sweetly is a custom curated gifting company. We work with our clients to help them speak the language of appreciation to their clients, employees, customers, friends and family. Our gifts are thoughtfully curated with personal touches that let the recipient know they are truly appreciated. What sets us apart is our ability to curate gifts that always hit the mark. I’m proud of the fact that we made it through 2020 and excited about the new subscription boxes we are launching soon. The pandemic has been our biggest challenge since almost everything we had planned was cancelled. Even though it was extremely difficult and out of our control, we focused on one thing we could control and that was to stay in touch with our clients. We sent out “pop of sunshine” boxes with a few treats just to let them know we were thinking of them. The unintended result was that this small gesture inspired some of our clients to also send out “pop of sunshine” boxes to surprise and brighten someone else’s day. The biggest lesson is to keep going, don’t stop. My message is essentially that saying “thank you” is a natural part of human nature and a great tool for businesses to retain clients. Celebrate Sweetly’s motto is “Life is Sweet, Celebrate Everything” and after what we experienced in 2020 nothing can be truer. My clients call me the “Gift Whisperer” and I will continue to create memorable gifting experiences for them while building a brand whose ethos is founded in thoughtfulness.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So much to see and so little time but our fun would start off with a drive through Kanan or Malibu Canyon to head to the Reel Inn for some fresh seafood then a walk through the Self Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine. It is food for the soul. Our day in downtown LA would definitely include a visit to the Broad Museum and lunch at La Tostaderia or Sticky Rice at Grand Central Market. We would likely spend a day in Santa Barbara with a stop at the gorgeous Santa Barbara Mission, lunch at Eureka and finish the day with dinner at The Ranch House in Ojai. Our hangout would most certainly be an excursion along PCH with stops at the beaches along the coast. First stop, Westward Beach then all the way to Manhattan Beach.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout is to my husband Colin and my three daughters Ariana, Cali, Mia They are my WHY for anything and everything I do and their constant support inspires me to be better each and everyday.
