We had the good fortune of connecting with Mia & Benjamin Edenberg & Shielden and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mia & Benjamin, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
By the way we came from France, from ordinary family, not rich not poor but with something more important than money, the most valuable ressource : love. School was a prison that we were locked in for about 18 years but as we were freed, we started to live. Living is for us creating. Music of course, but painting, cooking and everything that brings joy and freedom to our souls. The real education that we received is that everything outside is the mirror of what we are inside. Healing our soul is healing the world we are living in. Unfortunately this is not really that school is telling and that is why parents are so important from the very beginning to the end.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What is very important for us is to be us. You cannot tell be yourself like doing what we do. We are composers that you cannot copy, we are writers and designers that cannot be removed and replaced by AI or challengers. If you like us, you have to be in contact with us, you have to give and to take from us. Maybe you can have more valuable for your interests, maybe you can have cheaper, maybe you can use à friend instead of us, but it will be something different that will never satisfy you from the attraction you had for us and our creations. To be honest everything was hard on our way, not because the world is against us but only because we tried and tried to be what the story telling is marking on your soul. It is quite impossible to be someone else without losing your mind. And when you own this thing, and try to go to yourself, things are going easier. Pain is pain, work is work, but when you face the sun you know you are in the right direction. We can say so much about our music or paintings or books or anything we are sharing, but it is nothing real. What is real is you to discover it and feel, light, darkness, fear, pain, hope that we are experiencing and settling in our Art.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So, you have to have time cause we will bring you from Koh Samoui, to Marrakech. From Tenerife to Las Vegas, from Santa Monica to La Croix Rousse (Lyon – France). But nothing is greater than the unexpected. Maybe the best moment of your life is in five minutes, maybe it is in a dirty office, with people that you don’t know. Maybe you will be blasted from reaching what you where looking for from ever. Maybe your lover, this only one is waiting for you far away from noise, beauty or money … Maybe the better place we can bring you is to our heart. But please take off your shoes, remain silent cause it is a place where everything is given if your soul is honest.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As it is the base of everything in our lives, of course we have hundreds our thousands of people to thank. Enemies (considering that enemies should exist) are a really strong engine that force you to go further and further, but inspiring people are the energy that you need to make it. So many people are teaching well, are bridges and bridges to help you going from a question to an answer but the only source of power is love that is freely given from some people that makes you alive. It is your role to tell what is good for you, and nothing or none that was on our way should be exactly what is good for you. Feel free to try, to try again, harder and harder till truth comes to you. Say thank you to your friends and enemies when it is done.
