Meet Mic Rose | DJ & Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mic Rose and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mic, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
It was a given. I have always had a passion for drawing and music. I grew up in a musical family. My dad would always sing, play records and instruments daily throughout my entire childhood. Im literally a mirror image of my dad. It is only right to follow in his footsteps.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I go by the name of DJ Mic Rose. What sets me apart from other artists or producers or DJs is that I love all of them together just as much, so Im my own trio! I dont just DJ, I dont just produce, I dont just write and perform, I do it all! My passion is music in all aspects period. I went to school to become a certified sound engineer just to perfect my own sound. I apply all the knowledge to each craft. Whenever you hear anything of mine, not only did I perform it, I also wrote it, produced it, recorded it, engineered it and I will even spin it in the club or a DJ mix! Infact I dont know any other artists that are much like myself. I also run my own DJ business and Im very blessed to be successful for over 15 years doing what I love to do. My biggest challenges growing up is that I dont look like others either, Im half thai and half black, people always give me the eyebrow when I step up to perform, they dont know what to expect, but then they hear me and instantly realize, Mic Rose is pretty dope! I have a couple favorite accomplishments that I am most proud of, I have produced music for some of my favorite artists growing up, I have also appeared in music videos with some of my favorite musicians and last year I was given an opportunity to DJ at Coachella (Vestal Village). Im not where I would like to be just yet, but I still set personal goals to try to get there. It hasn’t let me down for the past 15 years and regardless if Im not where I want to be, I dont let that discourage me, I have a real life passion for what I do already and I will still continue to be me, DJ Mic Rose.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite place in the whole world is Disneyland! Hands down! No explanation needed. That can cover a few days for me period! The other couple days Id have to say riding bikes down Venice beach and I love Santee Alley! Thats always been a family thing for me to do and it holds a special place in my heart.
