We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Deni and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael, what do you attribute your success to?
Hi there! The most important factor would probably be my work ethic. I’m the kind of person who enjoys practice. Whenever I have free time, I think how can I do something now that is productive towards my career? I feel you really need that kind of work ethic to succeed in this industry.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well what I’m currently excited for is that my TV show “T-Rex Ranch” just premiered on Netflix recently and it has been doing so well that it has already been green lit for a second season! It’s my first series regular role on a significant streaming channel so it’s been such an amazing process bringing the show together. To get to this point however, was not easy. It took 5 years of hard work and grinding to get to where I am today. It’s never an easy road for anyone. I’ve had a lot of months where I’m trying to figure out how to pay for rent. I’ve had full years go by without working one theater gig. This is a hard industry and unless you can accept rejection easily, it’ll wear you down. I slowly had to learn that just because it’s a no this time doesn’t mean you’re terrible, it just meant that role wasn’t meant for you and soon enough, if you consistently work on improving yourself, you’ll get the opportunities that are right for you.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Definitely Little Japan Town! It’s in West LA and it is one of my favorite spots! To Marugame Udon to Tsujita, there are so many amazing food joints there! I go back frequently to introduce friends to the area and every time they are impressed.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely my family! They are always there for me whether it’s helping me with last minute selftapes or just constantly telling me how proud they are of me. I always have had their support and it means everything. It just makes things so much easier when you know you have people who love and support you no matter what.
