We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Mamic and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael, what do you attribute your success to?
To be confident in your abilities but humble enough to know there’s still a lot more to learn. This kind of balance, I find helps me operate with quality and high standards yet still be inspired to continue growing.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a creative director & filmmaker, my work consist of a lot of creative strategy for brands, personalities, and businesses. Also working in entertainment, I work a lot on music videos and narrative content, which gets me the most excited. Being a huge fan of film/cinema, it’s something about an experience that film gives an audience that I want to bring to audiences in any other media forms as well. My style in content creation is very cinematic and storytelling driven because of the fact that I want people to feel such experience yet catered to however who I am working with needs it.
As for challenges… Growth isn’t easy, you have to be bold to face your challenges head on. I think everyday I look into what might be things I’m afraid of and be truthful about it, and I attack it. A lot of times I find that growth comes after you face your challenges so I learned to always keep my head up because there’s always a way to beat whatever wall might be in your way. If you want it bad enough, you can beat anything.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Griffith observatory, Santa Monica Pier, Venice Beach, Beverly Hills, DowntownLA – all very common area’s but I think they’re a standard to visit to get the vibe of LA. Good spots to sightsee, Vibe, meet cool people, experience cool things, and check out the food.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutouts go towards, my parents, who have always been straight up about their perspectives on life and always trying to look out for me. My older brother, Jeff David King, who first started our company “Mamic Media” and gave me my first opportunity to be a creative professionally. Over the last 5 years having Jeff, a really dope creative, in my corner was a huge blessing and outlet for me to learn from. My entire family, growing up, we’ve always been taught to push ourselves and to try and be the best version of whatever it is we wanted. So huge shoutout to the relationship I share with family as well. Without them I wouldn’t be Me.
