Meet Michael Reinmiller | Photographer and Videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Reinmiller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael, what is the most important factor behind your success?
All of my experiences over 20 years have made me a better photographer—I’m so much better than I was 10, 15 years ago. With that came learning how to interact and collaborate with people. I’m able to have a conversation with just about anyone and I’m not afraid to reach out and remind people that I’m around and available. My brand is really about me and my relationships with so many happy customers. Photography and videography is more of a performance art than you might think. Being able to connect with people right away makes this happen.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started when digital photography was in its infancy—and was mocked for it. I stuck with it and digital photography is now the standard. I’ve shot everything from photos at Carnegie Hall to local political events.
Between my state-of-art equipment and 20 years of experience, there’s no way I can’t impress my customers. My current Google reviews are evidence of that statement.
Over the years I bought all the wrong lenses and shot in all the wrong ways. I now know what works—it was an expensive lesson to learn. I also learned from lots of other great photographers that I met in person and learned from online. In fact, I’m continuing to study my craft every day—there’s no end to learning.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my friend to the state capitol, camera in hand. The building architecture and detail is beautiful and I could spend an afternoon just shooting the light fixtures alone.
Next we would check out the Sunken Gardens, Lincoln, Nebraska’s best hidden secret. Each year they organize and populate the garden with plants according to a theme. The displays blow me away every year.
Later, we’d pop into El Chaparro for #21, steak and onions, This little place has amazing and affordable Mexican food made for years by the same family.
With a full belly, we can end our day in my recently revamped studio to end up with some great portrait shots.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shout out would be to Monica Zinke for so many continuous years empowering women who experience homelessness here in Lincoln, Neb. She runs Fresh Start, freshstarthome.org for more information
