Meet Michaela Poblete | Software Engineer and Actress

We had the good fortune of connecting with Michaela Poblete and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michaela, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I worked a 9-5 job as a software engineer and while I liked many aspects of it, I felt like I could accomplish much more working on something that I was passionate about. I like to problem solve and build things which is what I was doing at work but I was missing the creative aspect of building something. Starting this business has been an outlet for being creative – I got to decide on everything from the branding and logo design, to the ingredients going into the product, to building the website. I’ve always been most fulfilled when I’m working on my own things and building this business has not only been fulfilling but also a great learning experience!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Since I was young, I was always conscientious about what I put on my skin. I found it concerning that we don’t have any choice but to apply so many creams and products on our skin that contains ingredients we can’t even pronounce! So I started Talodew which is a clean skincare brand! Both Talodew products – a face moisturizer and body moisturizer – have 100% all natural ingredients!
I’m most excited about how people are starting to prioritize optimizing ways to be healthy. Not just in healthy eating, but even in things like skincare.
Starting this business is sort of like scratching an “entrepreneurial itch” I’ve always had. In college, I worked at a Startup Center where I learned about finding niches and meeting people’s needs. I even started a couple organizations while in school. Starting new things is not easy at all – but all the challenges that come with it are always the best learning experiences.
To overcome challenges, I just found that I had to keep working and not give up. It’s trite to say that, but I truly mean it. Doing things that no one else has done is scary but you want to look back and have zero regret because you never tried it.
I’d rather learn from making mistakes than always wonder what could’ve been.
I started Talodew so that people can experience true all-natural, clean beauty products without wondering what they’re putting on their skin. We’re all moving towards prioritizing healthy choices and that includes what we choose to put on our skin! Talodew is the answer.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom has been so supportive with this entire endeavor. She always has an encouraging thing to say – “You’re business is going to do so well”, “Even if it takes time, you can be happy with small wins”, and “Be patient. Starting a business is hard.”
She’s my #1 Cheerleader and she tells all her friends about how I’m starting my business. Very blessed to have my mom who understands I feel most fulfilled working on my own thing over anything else.
