Meet Michelle Majors | Singer/Songwriter/Actress

We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Majors and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michelle, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think by a lot of people, sometimes risk can be seen as something that may not be good. The truth is that risk is crucial to growth and success. Yes sometimes risk can be tricky, but most times risk is the thing that gets you where you want. For example, I lived in Philadelphia my whole life and when I ran out of resources for my music career, I made the decision to move across the country to LA. Now this is risky because it’s basically like starting a new life, across the country, by yourself with no family or friends. It can be scary. I knew though that if I really want to succeed that my next step was taking this risk and moving to start the new phase of my life. Been here for almost 3 years and I never looked back.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So I am an artist and I think as a singer what sets me apart is my tone. I have a very jazzy sounding tone that almost belongs in a different time period. This industry is a lot of hard work and what I think is most important is that other artists recognize that 90% of artists DO NOT SEE SUCCESS OVER NIGHT!! This is crucial. DO NOT give up! DON’T STOP! some people take 10 years to get to where they want and they succeed because they never stopped, not even when things felt hard. For me personally, my brand stands for being a “Boss”. I want everyone to feel empowered and be their best selves. Be a leader. I always say I want to help people with my music. Use my art to heal others.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend visiting me, I have alllll the right spots to take them! We would go to Geoffrey’s in malibu for brunch, then head to el matador beach to relax, sunbathe, and see a gorgeous sunset. To go out at night we would probably hit up “no vacancy” or “the highlight room” and get our dance on! No vacancy is also a fun speakeasy so it gives a nice twist. No doubt we would HAVE to get in and out!! You can’t come to LA and not eat in n out burger and animal fries. I would wanna take us on a scenic hike so probably the one in topanga which takes you to a gorgeous view atop of a graffiti hill. There would just be too many places to go and see & I can’t name them all but these are some places for sure!!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I think my Mom deserves a shoutout because she moved to America with next to nothing and still managed to put me through piano lessons and voice lessons and everything just to make sure I get what I need. She knew I told her that I want to be an artist, and she spent every penny she had to help.
