We had the good fortune of connecting with michelle quaranta and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi michelle, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
for me I come from a line of entrepreneurs and I wanted to carry on that tradition within my family. I love being a team leader and motivating and inspiring others. I love networking so it’s perfect for me. I love that I can make my own schedule and truly live work hard play hard. Providing others a great opportunity means a lot to me as well.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My craft is Hair and Makeup, with influences from fashion. as a very young girl I loved fashion, I loved creating and seeing things differently. I believe not only my talents but my personality has defiantly set me apart from others. My professionalism and work ethics. I recognized my strength, independence and hustle at a very young age and I was not going to give up. Sounds much easier said then living it. I struggled all the time and I had my Hero, my father always on the other end of the phone no matter what time of the day, cheering me on not to give up, that I was too close. a support system is everything. I am now working on a small boutique agency that I represent other hair and makeup artist like myself, with the drive and ambition to do their best. I will continue to strive to be the very best I can, at the same time always making others smile and having fun.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
my favorite spots to shop, dine and venture are always the beach towns. I love Montana street in Santa Monica, great food spots and shopping. Love, Love Abbott Kinney in Venice and of course Venice beach bike bath, a must. Manhattan Beach also one of my favorite beach spots, great pier and sunsets. Then Malibu of course, Malibu wines, Rosenthal winiery and zuma beach. A great spot that I love bringing visitors too would be the Grove and Melrose Ave. There are so many things to do here in Cali and so much to see. The Getty Villa and the Observatory can’t forget those.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Hi, My name is Michelle Quaranta. Celebrity Hair and Makeup Artist here in LA. Born and Raised Jersey girl, I headed west at 18. I got my start in the industry working and traveling with a modeling agency then breaking into the MAC management team. As time went on I started expanding my career and doing more freelance projects, as well as weddings. Later headed to LA, where I new nothing of the industry or how to start, so I took a management position with Smashbox, I was able to meet more industry peers and discover ways to promote myself as freelance to get more tv gigs. I landed Extreme Makeover Home Edition, and from there it was one after another. I than began my career with Vanderpump Rules, Botched and now MTV The Hills New Beginnings. I recently joined Union 706 here in LA. I am very excited to move into some great union projects. Occasionally I still take weddings and private clients. I feel very blessed that I have been able to forge ahead here in LA in the Entertainment Industry. I have met so many amazing, talented people. You know your home and on your path when everyday I still wake up look outside at the palm trees and feel like I’m still on vacation. Despite the long talks with dad about giving up and all the tears, sacrifices, I wouldn’t change a thing.
