We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachelle Pila and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rachelle, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking to me defines either an opportunity or a lesson. Stepping into my dream is the biggest risk I’ve taken for my future. I knew my passion is something that’s not easy to accomplish – not a promised financial success. But I chose to live my life of taking the risk to follow my dreams instead of living with regrets. There were moments where I feared into being in the spotlight – like taking in leadership as a fashion show coordinator, having my work critiqued, how I should presenting myself as a professional, & the list goes on… But the challenges made me stronger & shaped me the person that I am today. Without having to take those risks, I wouldn’t have had the guts to start my own fashion business. So I’m extremely grateful that the risks paid off in my future.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a Fashion Designer & Digital Creator, I do my best to be versatile with my passion, which is what sets me apart from others. Have you ever had a thought where you want to do SO MANY things but had a difficult time achieving them? I recently came into a conclusion of where I want to stand in my career. I’m excited to FINALLY jump into my short-term & long-term goals since I have a clearer vision of what I see myself in succeeding. I am proud of all of the trial & error I went through, because honestly, it has been bugging me of how I was going to start my career after graduating. It wasn’t easy – took a lot of time finding my truest forte between a Fashion Designer & a Digital Creator. Time is valuable & you want to take advantage of the opportunities you’re given because it will be a step closer to what you truly desire. I recently launched my blog site that I have been wanting to create for such a long time. I love sharing my journey with what I can do to inspire others. So my blog site is called “Versetyle by POSH.” POSH has been a nickname that I carried that represented my love for dressing up. It focuses a fashion diary where I showcase styling, makeup looks, design work & many more – it’s completely versatile!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Planning is one of my favorite things to do so my best friend will definitely have a blast with no frustration. For a week long trip, I would love to take him/her to the Happiest Place on Earth – Disneyland! I grew up with Disney & I’m a former Cast Member, which I have TONS to show & talk about the resort. Next place would be Long Beach (where I grew up) – taking a stroll down the Pike, overlooking at the Queen Mary & dining in with a relaxing view of the ocean. Next spot would be at one of my favorite foodie – Boiling Crab! Specifically the one at Garden Grove because they do a really good job with their sauce portion. Another favorite foodie spot would be Fire + Ice in Garden Walk! My love introduced me to this Mongolian Grill, & it’s definitely the best I’ve ever tried! I usually would dine in then visit Downtown Disney since it’s only across the street! If my best friend is staying in during the second Sunday of the month & loves to thrift shop, the Rose Bowl flea market is the spot to go! I found some rare Disney pins & cool vintage finds. It’s such a huge flea market that can be overwhelming but the finds are worth it in the end. Since my best friend is in California, he/she can’t miss a beach day. A really nice spot that’s also photo worthy is Crystal Cove in Laguna Beach & El Matador in Malibu!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give a shoutout to my family for being my number one supporter since day one – they’ve tremendously support me until this day forward. My partner, Corey Saldana, has made an impact in my life. Being both creators, he definitely helped me with the ideas, the technical aspects (being as my personal photographer/videographer), starting businesses together & for spreading so much positivity. I’d like to also give a shoutout to my best friends, Roeshelle & Jonathan, for lifting up my spirits throughout the times I faced a lot of battles between my education, work & mental health. Most importantly, they all believed in my potential & understood the challenges I overcame – keeping my dreams alive.
