Meet Miesha Quinones | Marriage & Family Therapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Miesha Quinones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Miesha, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is the understanding that success is not a final destination, and it comes in many forms. Committing to continued personal and professional growth, along with being present, compassionate and intentional are factors I believe that continue to assist me in fostering success. Working in the mental health field has granted me a level of access into the depths of the human experience. Professional training is imperative to my work as a therapist; however, I believe that there is so much healing that can happen in how I show up with my clients. This work holds me accountable to maintaining a responsibility my clients as well as myself to uphold my commitments to success and I get to measure that through their growth, insights, and transformations.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, working in the San Fernando Valley. I think there are so many exceptional therapists who bring so much to this field, so it’s difficult to choose things that I believe set me apart from others. I will say that I believe my presence and ability to use humor and join with my clients is something that makes the experience unique and inviting. I’ve always known that I wanted to be a therapist, yet my journey to licensure came with some trials and valuable experiences that I believe helped to validate how aligned I feel in my decision to pursue this career. One of the greatest lessons I have learned through the process is what it takes to stay committed to my “yes” and how to allow challenges to be a part of my navigational system instead of letting them derail me from my path. I’d want the world to know that I am passionate about collaborating with and supporting others in their growth and healing journeys. My ideal client is someone who has experienced trauma or negative experiences that may have skewed the way that they see and relate to themselves and others. I love to support people in rebuilding trust, love and respect within themselves and letting go of false narratives that may be keeping them stuck.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m such a homebody, so this is a bit tough. If the weather is nice, I’d probably get up early and head to the beach in Malibu (El Matador-before the crowd gets there). If this was pre-pandemic, I’d definitely take them to First Fridays in Van Nuys. You get the experience of live music, comedy and spoken word poetry with positive energy. It’s definitely a vibe. Chocolate Sundays is also a good option for comedy. If they wanted to support small local businesses and vendors, I’d take them to the Nothing But B.L.K Flea Market in Los Angeles. Restaurant wise, for casual dining, I’d recommend BlaqHaus in North Hollywood, Kale My Name (Encino), Papillon Bakery, and Au Lac. We’d definitely do a hike or get out in nature. I would also take them to check out local museums and shops.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to Shoutout my mother. She has made tremendous sacrifices in her life as a mother and has committed herself to continuing her education and professional growth. I think that it takes a lot of courage, dedication and commitment to return to school later in life and to stay committed to your personal growth and passion. It is very honorable and inspiring and sends the message that it is never too late to go after what you want in life!
