Meet Miguel Angel Caballero | Writer, Director, Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Miguel Angel Caballero and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Miguel Angel, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
As a creator/writer/storyteller, oftentimes I found it was an obstacle to find creativity. I felt that I had to take trips and chase creativity around. When I made a space for creativity and made time, on a schedule, that is when creativity started coming to me without me having to chase it. I set myself up on a rigorous schedule of early rising, meditation, and creative work. Once this schedule was ingrained in my body, I saw the results flow. My body was open to receiving and knew exactly when creativity was going to flow. I truly believe developing habits that are productive for what we want to do is the key to momentum for accomplishing our work.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started off as an actor in my early teens with the support of my parents. Years back I had this powerful desire to tell my own stories, specifically Latinx stories with an LGBTQ perspective. I co-founded Cabaldana Alchemy and started on a journey that has been just magical thus far. We’re excited about the future and the projects coming out of our company.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Eat: Brunch at the Breakfast Republic, their “grits and shrimp” breakfast is a must-have.
Drink: Electric Owl for “happy hour”
Visit: Take the beautiful drive down PCH up to Oxnard, where I’m from. Visit the gorgeous, and uncrowded, beaches of Oxnard and Ventura. Have food at the Ventura harbor. Stroll the beach at sunset.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Book: “The War of Art” (Steven Pressfield)
Ted Talk: “Your Elusive Creative Genius” (Elezabeth Gilbert)
Ted Talk: “Listening To Shame” (Brené Brown)
