We had the good fortune of connecting with Ming Ng and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ming, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risks can be seen as opportunities. And opportunities gets you moving forward – good or bad. Either way, you are moving forward and progressing in life. I get excited every time taking a risk because I know I am growing and I will come out to be someone more than before. Leaving my corporate job (stability and a steady paycheck) 4 years ago to start my own business was the biggest risk I took in life so far. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets my brow art apart is the fact that they look extremely Natural. So natural that people can’t tell if they had any work done. My 2 philosophy on beauty; 1. Less is more 2. Enhancement is better than restructure. Use what you have and not change what you have. I am super proud of the constant evolution that my business goes through, catering to my clients and supporters. It’s extremely satisfying to be apart of this journey and I look forward to the next chapter. One of my 2021 goals is to expand our team and bring on a couple of artists who share similar aesthetics and values to better service those in need. Alongside many lessons I’ve learned being in this business, the big one is communication. The good, the bad, and the ugly – everything, should be communicated upfront. I find that over-communication is always appreciated and can solve lots of unnecessary misunderstandings later on. At Moai Beauty, our mission is to help enhance your natural beauty to the person you have always deserved to be.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Since I live in the Bay Area, there are so much to see and experience! I would knock out all of the famous sight-seeing places in the first day or two. Golden Gate Bridge, Bay Bridge, Twin Peaks, Golden Gate Park, Coit Tower…etc. Then have lunch or dinner at my favorite restaurants like The Turtle Tower, El Farolito, In&Out, Korean BBQ places or a couple of my go-tos like the R&G Lounge in SF Chinatown. Good drinks with a good vibe/atmosphere is mandatory! The Jones, Trick dog, Biergarten…etc., just to name a few. Maybe grab a dirty dog on our way back if still able to function. Then I would plan the remaining week for a road trip to Southern California, driving down Highway 1 to enjoy the scenery. Stopping by Santa Cruz is an option. Exploring LA and it’s surrounding fun will keep our days busy! Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This shoutout is dedicated to my husband and my father. Starting with my husband, he has been the most supportive and the best through this journey. He’s always make sure I am not in this alone but it’s us together as a team. I don’t think I would’ve done it without his love and encouragement. Also, I’m definitely not very easy to deal with, his patience deserves an award! And my father – always spreading the word, promoting, and just telling anyone he knows about me. Although we have not seen each other due to COVID-19, but his love and support gives me motivation to work harder.
