We had the good fortune of connecting with Miranda OHare and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Miranda, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We decided to create our podcast Blood, Sweat & Games because both Morgan and myself, although from very different backgrounds (me a voice actor and Morgan, a game developer) both have a similar goal in the industry.

We want to showcase women in gaming and we love talking about the industry and how it connects people and the fascinating role that gaming plays in peoples lives.

When I booked my first big voice over job for a video game character, I was thrust into the gaming world without much knowledge of it and over time I started growing and learning about it, I started to make friends in the space and it became important to me in a way I didn’t expect.

The podcast for us looks to connect people that love the community, love to laugh and uplift each other and want to discuss the culture of gaming and it’s impact on the world. I think with developments like AI, the rise of different streaming platforms like Kick and of course the evolution of video games, streamers, esports you name it- this is a very interesting time in gaming and its been a great time to start a podcast on it!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m an actor and voice actor, I made the big move to LA from Sydney, Australia in 2014 to continue pursuing acting. After landing the voice of Skye in the hugely popular video game Valorant, I was thrust into the gaming world.
As a newbie to the industry, she soon realized she had a lot to learn about the world of gaming but that being an outsider allowed me a unique perspective and now I’m pretty involved in the gaming community, after streaming on Twitch for a while Morgan and I connected and I wanted to make a podcast and asked her to be my co-host. That’s how Blood, Sweat & Games was born. We are still finding out feet, we stream on Twitch, Apple Podcasts and Spotify and soon we will be uploading the vlogs onto youtube. It’s challenging to find the time around our already very busy lives, especially with Morgans full time job for Amazon Games as a game developer and my auditions and voice over, acting work.

For us, the thing that sets us apart is our perspective. the gaming world has been largely dominated by men. Mainly ah, white dudes. So… it’s time to hear about this industry through the lens of two women. The mission of The Blood, Sweat and Games Podcast is to connect with gamers on a deeper level, telling their stories and showcasing how powerful gaming is and how it has and continues to change and connect peoples lives. The pod aims to delve into the culture of gaming and along the way discuss real stuff, sometimes funny, light hearted stuff and sometimes it will be the darker, heavier things. But the pods overall mission is always to support, connect and uplift the listeners.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Okay- here are some of the places I would try to visit! Theres a ton to do- especially in Summer but here’s a short list!

Griffith Observatory:
The Getty Center:
Universal Studios Hollywood:
Venice Beach:
The Broad:
The Hollywood Walk of Fame (you gotta check it out- its very touristy but its fun)
Santa Monica Pier:
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).
The Original Farmers Market:
The Hollywood Bowl: (if you go see anything there- do it. its the best vibe!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Women in gaming deserve the biggest shout out. Blood, Sweat and Games podcast is hosted by two women (myself and my co-host Morgan Ling) and we were inspired to create this podcast as women who work in the gaming industry ourselves (albeit in very different ways) but women for us, are always in front of our minds when we create content. Secondly, I have to shout out my co-host Morgan Ling, she’s a game developer for Amazon Games (previously with Riot Games) and we met around the time I booked my biggest voice over role- the voice of Skye in the video game Valorant. Morgan is intelligent, kind and motivated in a way few people truly are and she inspires me all the time!
