We had the good fortune of connecting with Misael Ortega and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Misael, what’s your definition for success?
To me, success isn’t status or money. It’s treating everyone the same and making them feel important.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what sets me apart is that I’ve always taken risks , even when the outcome wasn’t clear, even when it didn’t turn out how I expected.

Remember If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will.

The journey has always been a roller coaster.
And sometimes it’s not the journey , it’s the people you meet along the way.

It’s not easy, especially when all your marbles are in one basket.
But that’s what makes it real

I overcome these challenges by staying inspired.
By knowing I could be responsible for 3.8 million people in Los Angeles , and that my job would be to help build a better future for all of us.

I want the world to know that a new era is coming to Los Angeles.

An era where the minimum wage is raised so people can actually survive.
Where rent is lowered citywide.
Where part-time and full-time workers qualify for food assistance , because no one who works should go hungry.

An era where we remove parking meters and create the first AI-powered Parkwise LA , free parking for the people.

And most importantly, an era where we build real affordable apartments , $850 homes for Los Angeles residents.

That’s what I stand for.
That’s what I want the world to know about me.

And yes , I’m the youngest candidate in history to run for this office.

So to answer your final question .

Yes I’m beyond excited and bless to have this opportunity !!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some places I always recommend start around Rodeo Drive. That whole area has amazing Italian restaurants , and Italian food is my favorite.

In Bel Air, there’s a jazz scene that feels straight out of a movie. Vibrato Grill Jazz is special , real music, real atmosphere.
The Hotel Bel-Air also has great jazz nights.

The Culver Hotel is another favorite , dinner with live music, classic LA energy.

And if you’re looking for a great date spot, Firefly in Studio City is always a solid choice.

There are honestly too many to name , but those are some of my go-to’s.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shout-out goes to my father
the man who invested in me when there was nothing to gain,
who stood with me from day one,
who became my mentor, my rock, my foundation.
Without him, my world crumbles.
My father is my hero.
