Meet Monica Halligan | Makeup Artist and Eyebrow Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Monica Halligan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Monica, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
I have always been lucky with this. I grew up in small towns, if I give up I am going back to those small towns. AND WE CAN NOT HAVE THAT!! Forward is the only option!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a makeup artist and eyebrow specialist. I love what I do and I love that everyday is different. I work in my studio in West Hollywood, on location or on set. I have worked all over the United States and each state has brought me a new part of the beauty industry. I moved to Los Angeles 11 years ago and 2 years ago started my own business, Monica Halligan Artistry. I was ready to spread my wings and have full control over my creativity. This has been an exciting and very emotional journey.
After renewing my 3rd, 1 year lease I knew that I made the right decision. I have learned from this specific experience that it will be scary in the beginning, but it is oh so worth it in the long run, which I think applies to every major change in life.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit for a week, we would of course hit up several different beaches, but I love docweiler beach. I would take her to some of my favorite restaraunts. LA has incredible food options, the list could go on forever. But to name a few Yamashiro, Bludso’s, Firefly and Birria. I would of course have to show her the night life. Which one of my favorite Bars in DTLA, is Golden Gopher and Seven Grand. End the trip with Sunday brunch at Roccos or Sunday football at Elbow Room!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother, who started out in cosmetology and was the first person to embrace my love for makeup and art. The Jokester’s who were my very first makeup instructors. Gregory Hewitt, who took me under his wing and prepared me for this crazy world called the beauty industry.
