We had the good fortune of connecting with Monique Salas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monique, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my brand is that I speak and teach about only what I have experienced.  Being able to be my authentic self the last 7 years has truly empowered me as a woman in business.  I believe every person has their own story that motivates them to get up every morning. My success wasn’t given, I had to get out of my own way and I do my best to share those stories with my students. Helping women embrace their story and find the power in it has been such an important factor behind the success of my brand. The biggest joy is watching my student’s flourish from not knowing, to confident new entrepreners!

What should our readers know about your business?
The Oc Lash Fairy has a training academy that teaches women how to become entrepreneurs through the art of lash extensions. Im most excited that we are growing and building a great online community of like minded women. Being in the beauty industry for the last 7 years has been one of the hardest tasks I’ve taken on, however the most rewarding. The hardest part about being in business is all the unknowns that come with making your vision a reality. Something that is also really challenging though the way is fighting those thoughts of giving up or quitting when things don’t go as planned. Its definitely not easy but I can say I’ve had more good days than I did bad and I truly believe you are made in the moments you decide to keep going. Ive learned countless lessons in business, through the years. 1. Stay disciplined. Without discipline you won’t be able to stay consistent which is needed in order to gain some level of success in anything. 2. Stay Calculated. Knowing why you make each move & why each move is important to make. Knowing this will help you manage your way through all the ups and downs that will come with building your own brand. 3. Find the balance. Its never easy building an empire. Its going to require a lot of time away working. You must be able to find the balance between working, family, social life & building. Knowing when to say “No” and when to sit at home & enjoy your family. Its finding the balance for me that has been a real struggle.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Soooo if my best friend came to town I’m definitely taking her to my favorite Mexican Restaurant Super As in Costa Mesa, then we would go get massages, grab a bite at the beach & have a nice cocktail/ Michelada. After all that we would go hiking in Laguna at Crystal Cove & see all the beautiful views. Later we could get dressed up & hit my fave sushi joint Nobu in Newport Beach. The rest of the time we would catch up & watch netflix and chill!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I can’t thank my Spiritual Coach Maydelli Mendoza, enough! Ive worked with her for the last 3 years. She changes women lives through the power of helping to heal ancestral trauma. Working with Maydelli has really opened my eyes and my heart to the truth. She’s taught me so much about self love & what it looks like. She’s gotten me out of the darkest hours of my life simply by having her guidance. I believe mental health is so important no matter what you do in life.
