We had the good fortune of connecting with Montana Wyck and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Montana, why did you pursue a creative career?
I had a very tumultuous childhood growing up and I learned very quickly that I needed a place to put all of my emotions. Acting was such a beautiful way for me to take past experiences and use them to breathe life into someone else’s story. I think actors have such an incredible opportunity to open up people’s minds and hearts with the work they do. I did a play in San Francisco called Filed as C.I.P (Children of Incarcerated Parents) where I played a child who didn’t have a father because he was in prison. The San Francisco Chronicle came to the show and did a story on it. I remember feeling so privileged that I got to be apart of something that would allow people to feel empathy towards children in such horrible situations. All of this to say, being an actor is an incredible honor and I couldn’t imagine myself doing anything more fulfilling.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I got accepted into an amazing MFA program at Sarah Lawrence College in New York. I’m really excited for this new opportunity to grow and learn more about my craft. I’m going to take this time to really focus on studying all aspects of the industry like writing, directing, and producing. My goal is to return to LA in two years and to be able to create my own acting opportunities. I love to collaborate with multifaceted artists and see what we can come up with on our own.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Italian food: Baccetti, it’s SO good and the cacio e pepe is insane.
Coffee: Cafe Nido, the cutest coffee hideout.
Hike: Fryman Canyon, a beautiful hour long hike.
Drinks: Tom Bergins, is my staple. I love a good Irish pub.
Visit: The Academy Museum is awesome to see a little behind the scenes of Hollywood.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My acting teacher Lena Georgas has played a huge role in not only helping me develop in my craft, but also in my personal life. I will never be able to put into words how grateful I am to her and I’m sure many of her other students feel the same. She is the best teacher I have ever, and will ever get to work with. I have never experienced so much growth in my abilities as an actor than I have with her in the past two years I’ve been working with her. I walk into auditions feeling confident in myself and my craft because of everything I’ve learned from her. In addition to her unmatchable teaching, she is an incredible actress. I learn so much watching her performances. The way she transforms into her characters is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. She is truly the most special human being.
