We had the good fortune of connecting with Mouse Rawk and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mouse, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
My work and life balance has changed a lot over the last 5 years. Since becoming a father of two my life and priorities have shifted quite a bit. I prioritize my schedule much differently and use my time more wisely since starting a family. For me, it is all about balancing all aspects of my life appropriately. Painting keeps me levelheaded, but family comes first, no matter what.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is something very personal to me. It’s a passion that I’ve had from an early age and the more time I put into it the more it evolves and changes. Right now, my work is shape driven with an abstract graffiti style. I try to be different with my overall style. I like to separate myself from what is expected in my subculture and focus on what makes me happy and execute the pieces I want to create. I want to produce what I want to do and not worry about what other people will think. I put in work and really focused on what I wanted to accomplish and where I wanted to be as an artist. Becoming an artist in any medium is difficult. It is never smooth sailing the entire time no matter what. You must embrace the challenges and learn how to overcome the difficulties as you progress and evolve. I have learned so many different lessons along the way and not just with art. I’ve met so many amazing people from this path and you learn from all of the experiences that come along with that process. I want the world to know that I put my heart and soul into every wall that I paint. I give it everything that I have one hundred percent of the time. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This is always a hard question to answer because there are so many people and influences that have had an impact on me. A few things that have had a substantial impact on my art career are my friends, family, underground hip hop, comic books and graffiti. My wife Hailey deserves a lot of credit in my successes as she has been there for me since the beginning and has put up with my shenanigans for a long time.
