We had the good fortune of connecting with Myla Ivers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Myla, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was all based around the desire for more freedom. I hold my freedom in extremely high regard and while employed I kept feeling as though there was no longer any room left for me to grow, both financially as well as how far my mind wanted to expand. When I left for Thailand on my first solo trip in 2014 I kept having the experience of meeting people who were “on holiday” – for 3 to 6 months! The idea of that was so crazy for me. I could not fathom the idea that someone would be able to afford to take that amount of time to explore the planet and have time to just explore themselves. I didn’t realize what a hamster wheel I was on. I didn’t even think to ask for more. That trip changed everything for me. I became very aware of how very small a percentage of people in America were living the life of freedom. My belief is that we are all driven by either pain or pleasure. Once I had a small taste of how magical life could be, I no longer wanted to sit in the zombie like energy of all the things that were no longer working for me. Why wasn’t I asking more questions? Why wasn’t I branching out? Expanding my reach? Creating new ways of working that didn’t drain the very life out of me? When you feel free, energized and abundant, you show up soooo much differently for your clients. I was not showing up as my very best self and I’m sure those around me could feel it. So, my desire for more freedom went even deeper. Why do I want more freedom? What do I want to do with this freedom? How do i want to show up for others? How can I help the planet? Do I want to help others find freedom as well? What is freedom? To me, freedom is getting to show up everyday as your most authentic self. Having the choice to create your life any way you want it. Freedom, as a feeling, is MAGIC. Tapped in to the universe. Able to GIVE freely. Abundance mindset and knowing there is always enough to go around. Adventure. Love. Community. These are the reasons I live and show up everyday. These are the things I bring into my life and do my best to inspire others to have as well. This is why Master Your Magic was born.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am very lucky to say I work professionally in the Akashic Records. If you are unsure what this means, the records are the energetic library where all things regarding your souls journey through space and time are recorded. With your permission I open them and you are able to ask ANY question you would like clarity on. This is not a psychic reading and feels much like a deep discussion with your own soul. It is very rewarding on both ends as it helps move the stuck energy our ego can create and brings to light the soul level truth of things for the person. This is very deep crown chakra work for those who love the chakra system! Another area I ABSOLUTELY love to bring to my clients attention. We tend to have issues and very rarely look at the root cause of why the issue you began. This is where the chakras come in to play. By working with the shadow in the area that is in pain (relationships, body image issues, insomnia, depression etc.) we are able to bring more light forward and move whatever blocks they may be carrying once and for all.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I always think trips should start on a weekend! I would start by driving up the coast to Malibu for a hike and spend the rest of the day at the beach. Geoffrey’s has a great view of the water and delicious cocktails so I would end there with a sweet little sunset. The next few days I would go camping in Joshua Tree and spend the days climbing rocks, staring at the stars and sipping a hard kombucha by the fire. If we felt like getting into a bit of extra fun, I may initiate a nice little psilocybin ceremony. Once we drove back into the city we would snuggle in for a movie and postmates. The next day we would head to the arts district and see a play at the Pantages. At some point we would have to eat sushi… maybe KazuNori? Yummmm.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout is to my tribe! Living in LA is crazy and I am not sure where I would be if I hadn’t found such amazing friends. They are the very definition of magic! Whether up or down, they always bring an honest perspective and know instinctively when I need to ground in or fly high. Life without laughter and love is no life at all. I can honestly say i hit the jackpot here. I love you so much!
