Meet Nadine Chavez | Hair Colorist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nadine Chavez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nadine, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks in your journey is necessary in order to get to where you want to be. In my career I knew that I had to put myself out there if I wanted to learn/work with the best no matter what the outcome would be in the end.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a hair colorist based in West Hollywood. I specialize in effortless, sun kissed highlights, bright blondes and men’s hair color. I do both a foil highlight and balayage technique. My journey was not easy but all the sacrifice and time dedicated was worth it in the end. Coming from a small city in the suburbs I always knew I wanted to work/learn from the best. After beauty school I landed a job at Sally Hershberger LA.
Sleepless nights, 2 hour commute, 1 year at the front desk and then assisted a celebrity colorist for several years until I earned my own chair at the salon.
Looking back I can say that it’s important to be patient and enjoy every chapter.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Moving to West Hollywood was exciting coming from a small city to a big city like LA. I love exploring the different pockets. I’m surrounded by lots of amazing restaurants, coffee shops, concert/sport venues, hiking spots, great shopping, as well as nightlife.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Along my journey I was blessed to have been placed under celebrity colorist Stacy Heitman who I assisted and learned from for several years. I think it’s very important to have a mentor who can help you grow and who you admire and love their work.
