We had the good fortune of connecting with Nasira Kane and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nasira, how does your business help the community?
It offers someone the ability to have something that taste good and is a healthier option. I wanted to create something that kids would love as well so that their palettes would be more open to fruits and veggies as they grow up. Kids ultimately are drawn to the rainbow of popsicles and fall in love with their favorite after tasting it. Greensicle is also affordable and fun to eat!

What should our readers know about your business?
I started Greensicle in an effort to bring a cleaner product to the frozen dessert market. I have been vegan for almost four years after being vegetarian for 10 years. Although the general intention is to find balance within the things I eat, I tend to go for starch and artificial sweets (occasionally) because it tastes so good. I started drinking green juice because it was a great way to increase my daily intake of fruits and veggies. Green juice is perfect because it has the sweetness of the fruit that is the overall taste. Frozen green juice is a better way to stay cool and on a healthier path. Greensicle has definitely changed my life for the better based on the idea that I am creating and doing something I love. It maybe something I love but I have grown to be exhausted by the daily hustle because I am the beginning stages of my business. I am the juicer, assistant, manager, sales rep, and general operator so that can be ultimately overwhelming but it shows my dedication to the business generally.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have been living in NYC for about 10 years and will always end up taking my friends to a spot called Seasoned Vegan in Harlem to start, they serve brunch and dinner but only for takeout (post covid). Since we have to take the food to go, I would definitely take us to Central Park which is just a short walk away. I would top off that day with a movie and dinner at iPIC theaters in Financial District because I am into cozy movies and dinners at the moment.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give all the credit to my mother and father for not only instilling the idea of being a good person but thinking outside of the box for the good of the people.
