We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalie Kahn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natalie, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
When I started my pet accessories business, Mina + Pup, I knew I wanted to make dog and cat parents happy, I knew I wanted to make the fur babies look stylish and be comfortable, but I also knew I wanted to help animals in need. This is why I donate a portion of proceeds monthly to deserving rescue groups and non profits. At the end of every month, I ask my Instagram followers to nominate non profits that they love. I then chose one of the non profits to donate to.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
When I thought about the concept of Mina + Pup, I was only 13 years old. It took me a year of very hard work to get to the launch. Mina + Pup launched in August 2021, a day before I started 9th grade. It was so important to me to bring a young, modern. and original perspective to a category that was sometimes boring. Our designs are original, vibrant, and fun. This road has not been easy. As a teen navigating the world of business and high school all at the same time, I really have had to take a step back sometimes and just take a deep breath because it can be overwhelming but SO worth it. I am
most proud of the way my pet accessories make people and their fur babies feel. If you look at my customer reviews, a lot talk about the quality of the products and the originality of the designs. This makes me so happy because they are happy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a BIG amusement park fan. I would absolutely take my friend to Universal Studios first and foremost. In fact, I just attended Halloween Horror nights and had the best time. I would also include my two other favorite things, going to the beach and thrifting. We would go to a secret little beach in Malibu and then off to Melrose to support small businesses.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shout out to my uncle Michael. Unfortunately, he passed away at only 34 years old in 2020. He was my biggest fan and supporter. In fact, the name of my company Mina, is a combination of his name, MIchael, and mine, NAtalie. Michael loves animals and told me I could do anything I believed in. I dedicate all this to him.
