We had the good fortune of connecting with Natasha Luna and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Natasha, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think of risk as a challenge, it is better for me to see every difficult situation as a challenge that puts my mind on a different path, it is a positive way of thinking that puts me in action with a mindset of finding a way to do it. Rachel on “What We Find in the Night” was a big risk I took as an artist, Rachel had a miscarriage that put her in a very deep and hard emotional world, for me it was a risk taken as I had never done something similar before. I’m glad I took it, it was emotionally draining and absolutely satisfying as an artist.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Each person is unique and the path of the artist is to travel within himself to know himself better than anyone else and once there is brief to explore more and make their person as complex as possible, the artist is by nature curious, meaning being a more interesting being, each experience expands you and makes you a better artist. My career has been a long road of more than 15 years of training and working on many different projects and especially in different countries, Argentina, Mexico and the United States. Of course it was never easy, I think is the most difficult career in the world but for some of us we didn’t have a choice as it was so clear that that’s our mission, what to do best, what we’re destined To be.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love the Getty center as is hole experience, art ,architecture, nature and spectacular views of LA. My favorite place to take my friends when they are visiting, for sure!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I always thank my family who supports whatever decision I make, then I always thank the people who have somehow taught me something about being a better actress and a better human being. And then I believe that each project is the result of the effort and creativity of each member of the crew, is a team work. Especially in cinema what makes of each project a pice of art is a perfect convention of talented people focus on their particular work trusting the global vision of the director. And, of course, I am very grateful to the Indie Short Fest for giving me the award for Outstanding Achievement.
