We had the good fortune of connecting with Nate Taitano and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nate, how do you think about risk?
How do I think about risk? The act of taking a risk is why people experience some of the most life-changing and revealing moments while on this planet. Risk is the reason why people succeed, fail, learn, invent, and LOVE. Without risk, you are considered “safe,” but is being safe something that brings you true fulfillment? If you answered yes, then good on you, and I wish you nothing but success and happiness. But for me, I Believe without risk, there is no real reward. I genuinely believe that Stepping into the darkness while navigating uncharted territory is why people excel in life and learn what enables them to grow and become wiser. Risk is essential in so many ways, and I genuinely believe that I would feel trapped and always wondering “What if” without it. What role has taking ricks played in my life/career? Taking risks has literally been the main reason I have achieved my goals and learned so many priceless lessons in life. Taking risks and making mistakes have taught me more life lessons than if I played it safe. Not to say, playing it safe is terrible. Still, in my opinion, if I played it safe from the beginning, I would be so lost and full of questions id never be able to answer. To me, that sounds like torture. Always wondering, “what would’ve happened?” or “what if I did this, or what if I did that” these are questions I choose to stay away from. My career has only grown from the risks I’ve taken. I’m so thankful that I could gather the courage to take some of the scariest and most significant steps in my life to find out what more is out there for me. Every day I’m thankful for all the changes I’ve taken because without them, I would not have ever met the people I cherish in my life today, and I would’ve never experienced the amazing things I’ve been blessed to experience. I owe my whole career to taking risks.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My goal is to have music be the center of my work and personal life, instead of seeking a job that completely removes me from the music world. I refused to search for a job Due to financial security or any other joint challenges in any adult life. I put my energy into finding a job that keeps me close to the music industry and allows me to learn from a different perspective. I was able to seek out and secure a career as an artist relations representative for TAMA drums. This enabled me to continue my journey as a musician and gave me a close and personal view of the music industry’s business side. Doing something related to my passions and goals as a day job allowed me to continue to grow in my career as a musician. This is something I spoke into the universe, and I was able to make that my reality. I work with so many drummers I’ve studied and looked up to my whole life, so sometimes it can be very surreal. My “day job” keeps me inspired and pushes me to achieve even higher heights as a musician. I honestly never thought I could obtain the opportunity to listen to these talented individuals as they share personal stories from their journey. So the fact that this is my life keeps me inspired and confident to continue to walk this path as a musician. As far as lessons I’ve learned on the way; There are way too many to recall. When you surround yourself with people you can relate to and are inspired by, there is no other possible outcome than growth. I want the world to know I’m just a kid from the island chasing my dreams like many other creatives. Nothing will stop me from what I want to achieve while on my journey withing music. You have to risk it for the biscuit!!! Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my mother. She has been there for me since literally day one and has supported my dreams entirely. She has never made me feel foolish for dreaming so big. She nurtured my love for music and has endlessly encouraged my numerous outrageous dreams. I can never be more grateful for her. Since day one, my family has supported me, and I’m forever thankful to have them by my side every step of the way. I’d also love to dedicate this to every person I have ever shared a musical moment with, whether it was a quick one-off performance or a long-term tour. Without everyone involved, I would be nowhere close to where I am today. I’m from the beautiful island of Guam, which I’m sure is one of the smallest islands in size you’ve ever seen on a map, but the most enormous when it comes to talent and dreams. I’m confident when I say I am enormously inspired by every artist and creative from my home
