We had the good fortune of connecting with Nathan Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nathan, what do you attribute your success to?
Without a shadow of a doubt. If it wasn’t for my personal relationship with God I wouldn’t be where I am today. Although I’m nothing special and I’m not as big as some of my peers God has guided my every step up to this point and if it was for his grace and mercies I would never of been in the rooms that I’m in, the conversation I have, the people I’ve met. None of it happens without god and I want to give him all the glory going forward

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I Am very passionate about music. I’ve had the opportunity of working with great musician in Canada and hope to continue to work with amazing people even out of Canada. I’m beyond proud of my growth as a musician as I’ve come so far from what I used to be. I see my musical approach as simple but effective. If you go on my instagram and you look at the videos of me just playing there’s definitely a lot of shedding going on. But when it comes to actual playing live I pride myself in trying to produce music that makes people feel good. What I’ve learn from studying older musician around me Mainly Germain Dwyer is that the band is one sound and as the director my job is to make sure that we sound good and without sacrificing the lock. Although I’m still mastering the discipline to achieve this I believe that me and my guys can make so feel good music. And the teamwork between us is what allows us to be the Ontario District band for the UPCI church. I’m beyond proud of how far we’ve come

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Toronto is really the heart of where a lot of the excitement is. Times of foods spots. But there is this ramen spot called Ajisen Ramen and me and my girlfriend has been obsessed with so that’s definitely the first stop. Other than that we walk around the city. There’s so much to do that I couldn’t narrow it down to one.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I would like to shout out my parent for growing me up the right way and investing into my love for music. I would also like to shout out four very important people. Firstly I would like to shout out Nadia Brissett. When I was in a little store front church just playing to help the church out with no real plan of doing anything with it. She came to work with our band to make us better. But she has invested so much in to me at my early stage. Giving me my first gig, taking me to her church , little one on one lessons for Free, and she’s the one who really encouraged me to pursue music. I’d also like to shout out Shelly-Ann Brown and Ricardo Hatfield these are both of my MD’s. Shelly is my MD for my home church was Ricardo is my conference MD. Both of them have really allowed me to grow as a leader and a band director. They give me the reigns to exercise my creativity while still teaching me to keep music true to what it is. This year I had the opportunity of being the UPC MD for the Ontario district thanks to both of them trusting in me. Finally I’d like to thank my Pastor , Andrew Eastman for equipping me both mentally and spiritually to operate in what I do as a Christian. I couldn’t ask for a better Pastor. He helped to pick me up when I was in a very dark place about to quit but he showed me the love of god and helped me to recommit my life to him. I don’t think I’ve said it to him before but when he reads I want him to know how much that meant to me. I love and appreciate all of these wonderful people and wouldn’t be anywhere without them
