We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole “Free The Unicorn” Lovince and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole “Free The Unicorn”, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
Outsiders are probably unaware of the fact that being a full-time working talent means you are the owner and CEO of your own corporation. As an artist I am both the product and the brand. I am constantly on a never ending cycle of job interviews, partnerships, and projects. Though the entertainment industry can seem glamorous and effortless from afar there are many long days and tireless nights that I sacrifice to make a living.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am what you would call a multi-hyphenate or a hybrid talent. I am an actress, singer, song-writer, podcaster, screenwriter, and producer. Yes, I know it’s a mouth full. I never intended to be ALL of these but my career just took shape that way! It’s actually very exciting to be able to solidify myself in those spaces. As a performer you don’t get much say so in your career. You are constantly waiting on someone to give you an opportunity. However when I picked up my other skill sets I noticed that I was able to not only create opportunities for myself but work started to find me. Sustaining a career in the entertainment industry is not easy. There are many uncertain moments and in many circumstances you are walking away from the security of a stable life. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely love it and there is a lot of freedom and flexibility gained on the other side of instability! When challenges in my career arise I have practices/rituals that remind me why I do what I do. I take weekly goddess baths, workout, meditate, practice yoga, binge-watch child hood favorites, go camping, etc. I basically activate the aspects in my life that light me up and I keep doing them until I am realigned and a new manifestation comes through. I want the world to know that I am here! I need my voice to be heard because I want my art to inspire you to aspire. I want my brand to take you on a ride. I want you to laugh, cry, take action, fall in love, move to a new city, makes choices that make no sense but perfect sense at the same time. You feel me?

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Day 1: Travel days are often demanding so a nice dinner in that I cooked, maybe order in, or a chill sushi spot in my neighborhood like Sushi Hon. Lots of wine no matter what so we can catchup on all the things!

Day 2: Shopping in the fashion district “Santee Alley” so we can make sure we are fly for the rest of the weeks events.

Day 3: Beach Day! Either Dockweiler or Redondo Beach because fire pits are a must! We would pack fruits, veggies, and a few things to throw on the grill! We are sipping on Truly’s sun up and sun down we are sipping on whiskey! P.S. always bring water because hydrate!

Day 4: Chill day at the house to catch up on emails and things. That night we would do a nice early dinner at Nobu in Malibu or BOA steakhouse or Inn of the 7th Ray in Topanga. We would then bar hop and maybe do karaoke. A few spots to hit would be: Break Room 86, Cafe Brass Monkey, E.P. & L.P., and Davey Waynes.

Day 5: Drive up to Joshua Tree to hike, thrift shop, and sight see. Either camp or rent an air bnb for the night. Star gaze with some red wine of course!

Day 6: Head back to L.A. to meet local friends for Brunch at Sal’s on Melrose. We would stay there until hitting a random house party because L.A. is known for those!

Day 7: Talk and binge watch while they pack up! We would hit up Roscoes Chicken and Waffles on the way to the airport.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out one of my best friends Natural Zanders. She has been a truly divine sounding board in my life from the inception of my professional career. She has lifted me up in moments where my light was the dimmest and championed me when my light was the brightest. She is an accomplished artist herself making jewelry, clothes, and a renowned national speech and debate champion. She is a mother of two beautiful children, one of them being special needs which never leaves her with much time for anything else. Even with her plate so full she always finds time for our friendship! I am so blessed to have her in my life. She reminds me everyday that I can shine as brightly as I was born to.
