Meet Nicole Harris | Event Planner & Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, how do you think about risk?
I see risk as opportunity. My entire mindset views it very differently. I am incredibly confident and optimistic about risk because I immediately see the gain. Risk has been a constant in my entire life from sacrificing my personal savings to invest in my business, to moving cities on a whim, to abandoning my steady paycheck from a great paying corporate job, to betting on new ventures overseas, to investing in a full time employee and multiple part time employees to carry the business forward, furthering the financial risk. Risks are what entrepreneurs must take and because I understand this, I am thankful for all of the opportunities I was able to approach the right way that have paid off.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Dreams In Detail is a 100% woman-owned, minority-owned business. Our team is breaking boundaries and considered the first of it’s kind due to our diverse staff and vendors, resulting in the production of never-before-seen, innovative and upscale events. We are breaking boundaries in the event and hospitality industry, by incorporating tech and streaming into our events and AV. We bring new ideas, experiences, and designs to our clients’ events because we have a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic team that collaborates to bring in the highest level of class, creativity, and innovation to each event.

For the clients who come to us wanting “something they have never seen before”, they are in the right place. We custom create, sketch, build, design, and plan any vision, all over the world. Our diversity is our strength and that is how we overdeliver for our clients at Dreams In Detail.

My business plan summary consists of the incredible services I offer – Event planning and event rental services that are incredibly upscale and innovative to break boundaries in the event space by incorporating our multi-cultural team to create out of the box elements to events. We plan to deliver these products and services to clients through a service-based business through consulting with them by planning their events, and designing their celebrations. Our rental team will deliver and set up decor items at our clients’ events. The business is structured as a single-member LLC, lead by Nicole Harris, the Owner and Creative Director. The business’ HQ is located in Los Angeles, CA, with a plan to expand with remote planning and rental teams in Las Vegas and NYC.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the area, I would start the day at Blu Jam Cafe for brunch, then I would take them on a hike at Runyon or walk the beach in Malibu, have lunch at Nobu, and then go to a fun rooftop in downtown LA like Spire or Perch or bar hop in Santa Monica. After, we would get late night pizzas at Berri’s pizza. It would be a day full of fun, people watching, and experiencing all parts of the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am self-taught, so the mentorship I have received has been through watching countless videos online, listening to podcasts every day, and reading blog posts about my industry, building and marketing a business. I did not have a mentor, but really wish I did because it would have accelerated my career tremendously in the beginning phases.

God deserves all of the praise when it comes to my success, every door closed, another one better opened, and I owe it all to God.
