We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Richardson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It was 2016 and I had just given birth to my second son.

My job allowed a generous 12-week maternity leave, but for me, it didn’t feel like I had enough time to really bond and create the relationship that I wanted to experience this second time around.

My oldest son was 8 years old at the time, and I realized how quickly that time had passed by and how valuable those years actually are.

I wanted things to be different the second time around and have the chance to experience all of my newborn’s “firsts” instead of him being at a daycare for 10 hours each day without the ability to let me know what his day was like.

I also wanted to experience dropping off and picking up my oldest son from the car-riders line at school, instead of rushing to the after-school program after a long day at a job that didn’t light me up.

So I took a bold move and emailed my boss explaining that my maternity leave would be indefinite.

I knew that my children needed me more than the papers I left on my desk before my departure.

It was scary at first, but I took a chance to do what I felt was best for me and my family.

What should our readers know about your business?
When I started my business in 2016, I knew very little about what it took to create an online business. I had previous work experience in customer service and being in the legal field that I could bring to the table, but I knew that wasn’t the direction I wanted to take in my business.

Since I was a young girl I had always been very techy and into computers and web development, so I allowed that passion to guide me by learning more about website building, marketing, and the online business industry.

Over the years, teaching myself these skills has led me to help many women launch their online businesses, programs, and digital courses at various stages of their entrepreneurial journey.

I found a digital world that I had no idea existed but immediately loved. It hasn’t always been easy because there is always so much to learn, but what I’ve learned over the years is that we will never know everything. As long as the willingness and desire to learn, grow, and reach our goals continue to inspire us, then the possibilities are endless.

I also think that it’s important to understand that there will always be challenges, redirections, and changes that we’ll experience along the way. It’s part of the process. The key is not allowing them to consume us or defeat us, but to allow them to guide us and grow us into the next level that we are trying to reach.

I’ve experienced multiple challenges, but to look back and see how I was able to start with what I had to create a business that helps others do the same is now my reality that started only as a dream and it’s something that I’m very proud of myself for creating.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of the things I love about being in LA is that there are so many different things to do. If I had a chance to show my best friend the best time ever for a week long trip it would be in July or August, because I love the LA summer breeze during those months.

We would start the week off with brunch at Toca Madera, one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in West Hollywood. We would go kayaking or paddle boarding in Marina Del Rey. I love to hike the trails, so we would either go Runyon Canyon park or if she’s up for a longer trail, we would go to the Solstice Canyon Loop near Malibu.

I would, of course, take her to visit some of the tourist attractions such as Hollywood, Beverly Hills, the Grove, and Santa Monica Pier. And because LA is so diverse with such a wide variety of places to eat, we would have dinner at some of the best restaurants.

Then finally, if we arent exhausted and still have more energy in our tank, we would drive to Las Vegas for the last three days for more fun and excitement.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I’m a God-girl, so I have to give credit and thanks to God for the journey that He’s put me on. I understand that all of my experiences and lessons throughout my life have created this path for me to share my story and help others to also create life on their own terms.

Secondly, my parents have always been very supportive. From the moment I mentioned starting my business, my dad has always encouraged me to keep going and to allow God to insert the right people throughout my life and business. I’m thankful to have loving and supportive parents throughout this journey.

And lastly, my friends who are also very supportive and encouraging as well as the community that I’ve cultivated over the years by working with multiple women, coaches, and mentors that have trusted me with their businesses and have helped me to expand personally and professionally along the way.

I believe that it’s extremely important to be in a space of community with others that are on a similar path – which for me, is to build a business doing work that I absolutely love that gives me freedom and flexibility while financially supporting my family.

My family, friends, women that I’ve worked with, coaches, and mentors have been invaluable to me along this journey for me to continue to strive for my goals and see what’s truly possible for me while witnessing the transformation they are experiencing along their journey as well.
