We had the good fortune of connecting with NIGHTAFTERNEXT and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Thanks for joining us; to start, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
This is ironically a topic that has crossed my mind at every stage of my career. I’ve came to the conclusion there really is no “giving up”. The thought of moving on or feeling as though your “time has passed” is almost like an allusion. The ambition to fill your time with meaningful work or a passion that bring your life joy is always living within you. Life may not always permit you to fully dedicate your time to everything you intend, but as long as you are looking to the future of your projects, giving up almost seems to disappear.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
NIGHTAFTERNEXT has actually been an idea inside our minds for a while. The name, essentially looking to represent anything that seems to linger in your thoughts day after day, was sketched in a notepad belonging to Griffen from years ago. Once the music came together, it seemed only right that it fit this idea for the band. We feel as though the sonic landscape for the band is something that is coming back into style. Mid 90’s to early 2000’s era pop punk, widely experimental rock music, and chill shoegaze like modern day Cloakroom, to name an example, are just a few examples of influences we had bouncing around when writing all the new music. When it was finished, we were so excited that we felt as though we fit right into the same conversations as these influences. Combine all of this with an exciting future for live shows, and we could not be happier.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Footsies is the first and only stop.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would definitely love to give light to a good friend of the band. His name is Marco (or Koste as some know him) and he has been a great help in creating content for this band. His advice and knowledge of the industry continues to help us any time we have an idea for the band.
