Hi Nishit, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own business came from a mix of passion, purpose, and a drive for independence. I saw a clear gap in the market for high-quality, customized window treatments with great service, and I knew I could deliver that better than what was out there. I’ve always believed in building something of my own — not just to create income, but to create impact. I wanted to have control over the customer experience, the quality of products, and ultimately, the brand I stand behind. Once I had the vision and the right network, it felt like the right time to take the leap.

Cali Blinds LA is a custom window treatment company built on quality, personalization, and service. We specialize in made-to-measure blinds, shades, curtains, and shutters — offering both manual and motorized options to meet modern home needs. From sleek roller blinds to elegant custom curtains and smart home-integrated motorized shades, we’re here to help homeowners turn ordinary windows into standout features.

What sets us apart is our focus on the client experience — from in-home consultations to tailored recommendations and professional installation, every step is about care, customization, and attention to detail. We’re not just selling blinds — we’re helping people create comfort and beauty in their living spaces.

I’m most proud of the trust we’ve built. Seeing our name passed along through referrals, being invited into people’s homes, and watching repeat clients come back for new projects — that means everything to me. What excites me is how fast the smart home space is growing and how we’re able to offer solutions that match today’s lifestyle.

How did I get here? Was it easy?

Not at all. Starting a business from scratch comes with long hours, learning curves, and moments of doubt. I had to wear every hat — marketing, sales, operations, customer service. But with every challenge came growth. A huge turning point for me was listening to people — clients, mentors, even competitors. Feedback shaped my services, and humility helped me grow.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is: there’s no substitute for consistency and care. You don’t have to be flashy — just honest, responsive, and committed to your craft.

What do I want the world to know?

I want people to know that Cali Blinds LA isn’t a franchise or a faceless corporation. It’s a local business built on relationships and quality. I’m proud of how far we’ve come and even more excited about where we’re headed. Whether you’re a new homeowner or redesigning a space, I want our clients to know: you’ll always be treated like family.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely — I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of some key people in my life. A big part of my journey into this business goes back to my childhood friend, who’s been in the industry and had been encouraging me for years to take the leap. He saw potential in me before I fully saw it in myself, and his consistent push and belief in my abilities played a huge role in giving me the confidence to start my own company.

I also want to give credit to my family, who’ve been my backbone throughout this journey — offering support, patience, and motivation through the highs and lows. And lastly, every single client who trusted me early on — their trust gave me the momentum to keep growing and improving.

It truly takes a village, and I’m incredibly grateful for mine.
