We had the good fortune of connecting with Noah Gallagher and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Noah, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I have always enjoyed all things creative and art centered. I was not sure what the specific creative career would be, I just knew I had to spend my days creating in some capacity. Growing up, I constantly felt torn between visual arts and performing arts. I studied animation in college because I felt it was a unique blend of my two passions. Now my career as a freelance artist expands beyond just one creative medium. I take on gigs like painting, tattooing, animation, clothing graphics, and set design. I never want to feel limited to a single creative outlet when there are so many to play with.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been doing independent freelance creative work since 2020, alongside this pursuit I have also had to take on teaching jobs, barista shifts, and the occasional set work to fund living in Los Angeles. I am most proud of my thesis film, Papa Sun and the life it has taken on outside of my degree project. I plan on making a new animated short film with a similar musical format with the theme of living life unbothered.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was arriving at LAX, I would pick them up in my RAV4 with my dog Billie in the backseat. We would drive through the In-n-out near by and hit the beach immediately. We would have to walk around the silver lake reservoir at some point and do brunch at Lady Byrd Cafe or Alcove. We could spend a day at LACMA and enjoy hand rolls at KazuNori. We can watch the sunset on my roof and BBQ the groceries we picked up from H-Mart. We would have to hang with my friends and play Jack-Box-TV or watch iconic music videos on YouTube.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have so many people in my life that support my creativity. My parents and grandma not only encourage my art journey, they helped fund my art school education. I am also grateful to have a large community of friends that proudly wear my art as clothes, tattoos, wall hangings, or phone lock-screens.
