We had the good fortune of connecting with Noelle Reboul and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Noelle, what do you want your legacy to be?
I want to be remembered as someone who makes others laugh, not just in life but through their work as well. My goal with all of my art is to touch upon everyday experiences from a comical standpoint. I love to depict situations that are so mundane that they circle back around to being silly, or circumstances that are so extraordinary that you can’t help but snicker and ask yourself how that could even happen to somebody. I do this because I believe humor is the easiest way to bring people together, and really I’d like to be remembered as someone who did just that.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What I’m most excited about in my artistic career is seeing where it goes, and continuing to explore the different avenues I can pursue! I currently have a few different personal projects that I’m fostering, ranging from hosting a live web-series to self-publishing comic books. Professionally I’m freelancing, which also means I see a variety of different projects and have to wear a lot of different hats. I enjoy it, though, as it means I never stop picking up new skills and meeting new people. I’ve faced plenty of challenges throughout my working life, but I’ve learned that hitting rough patches makes us enjoy the times when life is going well even more. I think when it comes to my brand, I think I’d like people to know that at the basis of it all is a good sense of humor. I really am a people-person, and making others laugh is what carries me and my business.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people! Firstly I’d like to thank my Parents and my Family, they’ve been my number one supporters since I started making art in the first place and I’m not sure where I would be without them. Secondly, I’d like to thank all of my friends and mentors from the previous few years, as they not only made me who I am but also serve as inspiration for so much of my work. Lastly I’d like to thank all of the art teachers I’ve had along the way, they’ve each left a lasting impact on me and always tried their best to get to me see art-making from a new perspective.
