We had the good fortune of connecting with OG SERG and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi OG, how do you think about risk?
Taking a risk, to better yourself, is an excellent way to ensure personal growth. You should always strive to move forward and make gradual progress; efficiently achieve your goals, no matter what. Most times, this will require risk taking. When you look back on what you’ve done during your career, and when you reflect on every milestone in your life, you don’t wanna be like “I should have been braver” or “I should have trusted myself a little bit more” or “I should have been less hesitant when God told me to take a leap of faith”. Sadly, I was this pitiful person five years ago. But, thankfully, I realized that this kind of mentality would get me nowhere in life so I started taking action and I started focusing on what I could do right now instead of wasting time dwelling on past decisions. Taking action meant I had to get out of my comfort zone. With God’s help, I became more accustomed to taking a risk and I stopped worrying about my previous mistakes. You can’t change what has already happened but you can manifest a successful future (the mind is a magnet). I also stopped caring about people’s opinion of me and their thoughts on my journey. Regardless of how others feel, you must continue to pursue what you really want and make sure you give everything you’ve got! In order to prosper, you must push yourself into unfamiliar territory. You see, you should never be scared to put yourself out there and you also have to be willing to fail. Remember, failing doesn’t necessarily mean that you lost; failure is often the gateway to gaining wisdom. It’s how you grow! I’m amazed that I’ve made it this far and I’ve grown so much over the years. I understand my blessings can be quickly taken away, without warning, so I put God first in everything I do and I always thank Him for His constant support. I know there’s a lot of talented people in the world who are out there taking a risk, like me, but feel like they don’t have any support. But trust me, you’re not alone. OG SERG is rooting and cheering for you. I feel we need more encouragement from each other so society, as a whole, is more confident about taking risks that benefit everybody. I would rather see everyone rise up than stay stuck in the same place. Anything’s possible! Like the legendary Nas said: “Whose world is this? It’s yours!” So make the most of your limited minutes before God calls you home.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a local DJ with my own small business here in Las Vegas. I spin records at glass art shows, local cannabis dispensaries and also events such as Culture And Cannabis. I have been doing it for the last 3-4 years now along side the booming rise of the Cannabis Industry. What separates me from others is my unique mixing of open format genres for the beautiful people involved in the cannabis and glass culture. Plus I’m a big smoker. Lol I’ve decided to take the cannabis root as it became regulated here in Vegas about 3 years ago. Before that I was playing on the strip and downtown here and there. But how I really made my name and a way in was by hard work and dedication. OG SERG is not just a DJ, but also a brand. A Commitment to excellence type of brand that also does promo and influence for some big “legal cannabis” and glass brands here in Vegas. I have always been a fan of cannabis and glass blowing. I have always dreamed that one day I would be able to do the 2 things I enjoy in life. Smokin cannabis, playing records that vibe with beautiful souls and getting paid good money to do so. It was not easy! It was rough. I had to deal with a lot of no’s. I got zero support from family and friends who I thought had my back. (That hurt the most.) This isn’t just for anyone. Like anything else you must put the work in. You have to do it from the heart! I have to deal with people who don’t like what I do. Like family and friends. Like I said before, that’s not always easy. I feel people are going to say what they say and do what they do. You never mind that. It’s none of your business. Just stay focused and do you. The right people will come and motivate you. They might stay and they might even help you. Keep those people close and make sure to appreciate them and everything they do for you. I’ll just leave you with this… I just turned 45 years old! I do what I love for a living! And you can too with hard work and dedication. Read that part again.

As Vegas reopens after the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be able to have our Culture And Cannabis events again. Plus every year I get to DJ Glass Vegas. It is the biggest glass convention in the world and it is held here in Las Vegas. This is where all networking is done. We can hit up the Las Vegas strip! Go down to the Linq and get on the giant Ferris wheel. We can hit up the local dispensaries like NuWu, Planet 13, Green. Tree House and so many more! We can take a tour at Las Vegas Dream Factory home of the glass blowing legends Jerome Baker! After all I am their official DJ. Then we can hit up Cheba Hut for some munchies! Lol Cheba Hut has some what we like to call fire subs. Their subs all have cannabis strain names like, AK-47, Thai Stick & Acapulco Gold just to name a few. Then hit up the strip again for more shenanigans. Always good vibes!
