Meet Olumide Onajide | Certified Personal Trainer&Strength&Conditioning Coach – MPH/BA

We had the good fortune of connecting with Olumide Onajide and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Olumide, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking has been a part of my nature since a kid. It has enabled me to challenge myself to be the best version of me in all of my career goals. As a risk taker you have to be able to accept defeat or life can become a mental struggle.
As a Model, Actor and Certified personal trainer and Business owner of Double O Fitness LLC, I have faced the mental struggles in trying to achieve my goals. A lot of the mental struggles stem from wanting to eagerly leave a legacy behind and change the dynamic of my families life before I leave this earth.
One important thing I’ve learned during my journey is to practice patience and keep God close , because things will ultimately go my way as long as I have faith and believe in myself.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a Model/Actor and Certified Personal Trainer, I have worked hard and took risk In order to boost my profile. My TV journey begun in 2019 on a fitness show called Ultimate Tag on Fox network and in 2020 I got the opportunity to be casted on ABC network hit reality TV show called The Bachelorette where I placed Top 5 out of 30 men.
Doing these shows have allowed me to grow an audience and helped build my profile as well as network.
Before my 2019 opportunity with Fox I was unemployed due to being laid off my job in 2018 and was In a bad mental and financial state. I went through an entire year applying for work and trying to do what I can to shed light towards my craft of Modeling and Acting. Going to California and filming at Warner Bros studios for Ultimate Tag show changed my life and provided a level of confidence I needed in order to work harder towards my craft.
Upon my return from a month of filming, I was able to land a job at the airport as a Field Systems Tech and worked a year while working towards my craft and in 2020 Covid hit and I was laid off my job.
During this time I casted for the opportunity to be the Bachelorette and was selected to be one of the 30 contestants and made it Top 5 where I won the hearts of America with my authenticity, sun kissed skin and rock hard abs and became a fan favorite.
Upon my return from filming I was still unemployed and had to think of a way to create consistent income.
Since I’ve been a certified personal trainer & strength & conditioning coach for 10 years, I decided to start LLC and utilize my expertise to help out the kids in the midst of the pandemic.
During this time I implemented a fitness kids sports camp because I knew that kids were not active. This camp lasted until the world opened back up.
At my camp, I would have about 25-30 kids and spend 4-5 hours per day doing various sports games/exercises.
During this journey I’ve learned that working hard towards your craft is extremely difficult. When life gets in the way of your goals, then you have to be prepared to stay mentally sane because the journey of life can break you down mentally.
A lot of my mental struggles stem from wanting to eagerly leave a legacy behind and change the dynamic of my families life before I leave this earth. I want to be in a position to transform lives for my people and create more opportunity for success. I truly believe my purpose in life is to help those who are struggling to make it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In NYC, I like to catch NBA games at the Barclay and Madison Square Garden. I would also hit up Spots like Carnegie Diner or Dallas BBQ and will eat Koren BBQ occasionally.
At times I’ll find a venue that are showing big Boxing or UFC matches on PPV

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank my sister Foluke Onajide, mother Tola Daranijo and my Father John Onajide for being the best parents and sibling throughout my journey of life. The endless support I’ve received from them has shaped me into the man I am today.
I would also like to shout out my Good Friend James Sanders, who is founding editor of Baldwin for Medium and Author of Reparations: Style + Soul. His endless support towards my dream in modeling and including me in all his publications has been a blessing.
