We had the good fortune of connecting with Omoniyi Gabriel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi OMONIYI, what do you attribute your success to?
My most important factor, I will say is My passion and consistency over the years. It’s not been easy but it’s worth it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
About My Art:
I simply use my Art to touch hearts, and positively impacting lives. Oftentimes, my oeuvres are used to explore varying relationship between nature, human experiences and African aesthetics.
My art is like a visual Poetry bursting forth with relentless energetic expression in colours which sometimes depicts African contents and culture with bold and colorful strokes and emotions, silently communicating to the hearts of many by the sounds of colours.

What sets me apart from others:
I think what sets me apart from others is my unique tigerline patterns and self-expression in my colour approach.
In most of my works I use the tigerline as a symbol of African bravery and strength. I tried as much as possible to artistically use the tigerline patterns to enable each of my paintings possess the uniqueness each human being have in them, coupled with their spiritual and physical abilities, growth, power, austerity and strength.

What I am most Proud of :
What I am most Proud of or excited about is my accomplishment so far as an Artist, it’s not been an easy ride though, because when I look back at where I am coming from and where I am now and where I am heading to, I give Kudos to God and myself.

How I got to where I am today professionally:
How I got to where I am today is simply by Consistency and self- reassurance.

How I overcome challenges:
It’s really not been easy as I have said earlier. I try to overcome challenges by positive mindset and reassurance that everything will fall in place if I do not give up. I strongly believe it’s a process and when the results comes it’s gonna be an unending celebration.

Lessons I have learnt :
Lessons I have learnt along the way is don’t be affected by rejections or negative criticisms. As a practicing Artist, you must be focused and intentional about your art goals an ambitions. Don’t be moved or get distracted by negative energies or comments and always be positive.
And also as an artist, if you are lucky, don’t think others are lazy. Don’t look down on anybody.

What I want the world to know about me:
Is Humanity – Love for one another, love for nature and love for your culture. Since I basically use my Arts to touch hearts as an artist I put humanity first. Humanity speaks as the strongest voice in the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
