We had the good fortune of connecting with Omotola and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Omotola, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
No risk, no gain. You’ve got to take your chances. One of the biggest risks I’ve taken is the path of following my own intuition and desires and facing the possibility of returning back to square 1 at a “late age”. Traveling this path isn’t easy, but it has lead me towards great feelings of fulfillment. On my deathbed, I wouldn’t feel any regret for it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My favorite moments with music is when I grab a few seconds, sometimes a bit longer, when I have the complete sense that I’m doing exactly what I need to be doing at the time. I chase those moments down. My biggest challenge to that or in general? My own voice in my head. Guided meditations have really helped with that. Highly recommend.

I love finding the music to the words and feelings people otherwise don’t quite know how to say. At the time, the listener and myself are connected. As long as I live, I think I’ll be serving that connection whether that means 1 person or millions.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d have to take my best friend to the East Side of LA. Absolutely. We’d walk around the neighborhoods, see what’s come up post-covid. Take them to my old favorites, Black Cat, El Condor, Thirsty Crow, Red Lion, Semi-Tropic, maybe Club Tee Gee. I love me a divey bar or as near as I could get. We’d eat right, maybe Spoon and Pork, the Window if we need to be fast, Ezmet for the wings (omg), and to West Hollywood for Formosa Cafe’s fried rice (believe me, so good). Check out some shows going around town, to Stories for coffee and a hang, the Friend for dancing at night. I was introduced to Silver lake/Echo Park as my first intro to LA neighborhoods and it’s been resonating with me ever since. Creative people around every corner.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe people SO much. There are a few out there who put not only their belief in me, but also their support creatively and financially. It means/meant a lot. My love goes out to those people forever. It’d be difficult to name them all right now.
