We had the good fortune of connecting with Oshay Henderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Oshay, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite saying is “Boss up or get bossed around.” It’s self-explanatory, you’re either going to step up to the plate or get out the way. I’ve been making boss moves my whole life. I don’t own a Fortune 500 company or anything like that but make things happen for myself. When it’s all said and done, I want to be able to create opportunity for others like a boss should.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
For those of you who don’t know, I’m an up-and-coming content creator, photographer, and entrepreneur from South Central, Los Angeles most known for making skits. As a content creator, I do it all, I write, shoot, edit, and act. Writing has always been my strong point. As a kid I wanted to be a screenwriter. When I worked on set for the first time I fell in love with the whole process. I’ve taken a couple of classes here and there, worked on student films, and even have two IMDb credits. It wasn’t until I started making skits that I started to gain momentum.

Most of my skits are based on 90’s nostalgia. Earlier this year I did a Socker Boppers skit and to this day I haven’t been able to top it. In under a year that video accumulated over half a million views on YouTube. Nobody had done a Socker Boppers video at the time, at least not in recent years. When I come up with skits, I always try to set the trend instead of following it. It’s hard trying to produce dope content and be consistent, at least for me. I haven’t found the balance yet but going into next year I have a lot of ideas lined up and by the end of 2022 I’ll have a whole catalogue. Skits are cool for now but as my platform continues to grow, I want to produce bigger projects with more substance. The end goal is to own my own production company.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
LA is so big, even I’ve yet to discover all the hidden gems in the city. Off the top of my head the two places I’d recommend going are Dirt Dog and Round 1. Dirt Dog has the best hot dogs in LA, hands down. Whatever beef link their using I guarantee you can’t find that in stores. After you get you some Dirt Dog in Downey, go next door to Round 1 in Lakewood. If you like Dave & Busters, you’ll love Round 1. It’s basically Dave & Busters on steroids. They have bowling, pool, and karaoke.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to everyone who’s ever put their time and energy into my craft. Shoutout to my followers for the continued support. And shoutout to my mom for being my number one fan. Even though she’s not here she’ll always live through me.
