We had the good fortune of connecting with Paige Sierra and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Paige, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I honestly never knew I would have my own businesses. I knew I wanted to be an artist and photography called to me from a young age. I studied photography in University, but learned everything I know through experience. After more then a decade of working as a freelance portrait photographer, and a social media manager I wanted to find a way to bring those two together. In 2018 I was living in Bali, Indonesia and the idea of providing photography to tourists for their social media sounded like a great way to meet new people and explore the island with friends! In 2019 I was granted an Artists Work Visa for the US and decided to move to LA to pursue my career as a photographer and content creator on a larger scale. Six month after moving to LA I started Social Image LA. Social Image provides weekly photography sessions to social media users looking to maintain a consistent social media presence through professional photography. When I moved here I knew very few people and knew it would be a challenge to start my business but I also knew I was searching for more with my career and I was ready to take the leap with Social Image LA. Since starting my business I have never been happier and I am excited for what my future holds here in Los Angeles!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a lifestyle and portrait photographer, originally from the west coast of Canada. I moved to LA two years ago and started Social Image LA. I provide photography, videography and social media management services to social media users. I bought my first professional camera at the age of 16 and haven’t been able to put one down ever since. Photography has always been a part of my life and it’s been the driving force behind almost every decision I’ve ever made in my adult life. Photography has taken me around the world and given me the ability to travel and meet people I never would have if it weren’t for my endless desire to capture candid moments of the people around me. Of course it’s not always easy to be an artist and things have never been handed to me, but I believe that our journey and the high and lows that go along with it are what define us and make us who we are. My struggles have led me to my successes and I’m grateful for all my experiences, positive and negative. In 2019 I was granted an artist work visa, which allowed me to bring my work here to LA. Moving to LA has been such an amazing experience and I am excited for my future here.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite thing to do in LA when friends come to visit is brunch at Malibu farms, followed by a day at the beach and then drinks on top of the Ace hotel to end the night! I haven’t lived in LA very long so I sill have a lot of exploring to do!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shout out to all the women I have met and worked with that are out there hustling and working hard to grow their small businesses. Each one of my successes is because of the inspiration and support I receive from the women who surround me!
