We had the good fortune of connecting with Paizley Bishop and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paizley, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I’d consider myself an active un-calculated risk taker. The largest and most positive shifts in my life have always come from taking a big leap and not always knowing where I’m going to land. I’ve learned throughout the years to rely heavily on my intuition towards any decision I make.. But grant myself some grace and empathy when it turns out differently than I expected or hoped for.

For me risk taking represents limitless potential and possibility. When I think about taking a risk in any avenue of my life is when I feel most creative. I allow myself to be fully immersed in the visualization of what could be, and it’s really exciting for me!

So, whether it was leaving Albuquerque at 20 with hardly any money to my name or a place to live, or launching Peach Honey during a global pandemic, it all took some level of foolish risk taking. Not that either of those didn’t require thought or planning but if I let my mind run too far down the road I’m sure I would have found a way to talk myself out of either. I see risk as an inherent part of everyday life already, we are constantly weighing the risk vs. reward of every decision we make, so why not take a larger one and see what’s on the other side.

What should our readers know about your business?
I launched Peach Honey as a CBD pre-roll company in September of 2020, but that wasn’t always the plan. I had spent about a year fully developing a business plan and a line of CBD body lotion products. I had an investor on board, put in my two weeks with my job, and then COVID hit. For obvious reasons the investor pulled out and the idea of bringing a high-end CBD body lotion to the market didn’t make a lot of sense anymore. For the first time since I was 16 I was unemployed and no idea what I was going to do.

For about 3 months I hit the reset button on my entire life, I really slowed down and came to know my self in a new light. During this time I was introduced to CBD flower, and I knew this was where Peach Honey was headed. In the midst of a global pandemic, I had basically found organic Xanax. It did wonders for my anxiety, and I got that oral fixation of smoking without depleting me of my energy or giving me the munchies. I couldn’t wait to share it with the world.

I pivoted the branding a touch, designed all the packaging, built my own website, and sourced the best organic hemp flower I could find. And thus, she was born!

Every day since the launch has taught me so much, and I’m incredibly proud of how much Peach Honey has grown. We’ve expanded our in-store footprint with our retail partners, collaborated with amazing brands, and shipped our pre-rolls all over the world. My hope in the next year is to bring our CBD skin care products and other fun surprises we have in the works to our incredible gooey community..

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
It’s truly one of my greatest joys to bring out of town friends and family to all my favorite spots in LA. After 9 years in the city this list has grown exponentially but here are some of my top faves.

1. Jon and Vinney’s – I know this is an obvious one but everyone loves Italian food and it’s always a fun experience.. The music is great and I feel like I make a new best friend with the waiter every time I’m there. They’re always in the best mood!

2. Sk’s Donuts – I live way too close to this spot, it’s a blessing and a curse. But watching someone bite into those donuts for the first time is truly priceless.

3. Hama Sushi – I secretly don’t even want to share this because it’s a tiny spot in Little Tokyo and it’s already a long enough wait to be seated but man is it good. The rule is, we don’t talk during the Salmon because it’s my true form of inner peace.

4. Malibu Beach – I have a secret spot that’s clean and always empty, and no I’m not telling you where this one is!

5. Hennessy + Ingalls Bookstore – It’s my favorite spot to visit when my little brother comes to town. 1000’s of books art, cooking, photography, interior design, etc. and they always have a crazy sale section. We spend hours in there!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to dedicate this to my Mom, my Aunt Laura and Uncle Rob, and childhood best friend for believing in me and Peach Honey from day one. Your support means the world and none of this would be possible without you.
