We had the good fortune of connecting with Patricia Muthra and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Patricia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It was in the heights of covid and I was 11 yrs into working as an oncology nurse. I saw how the fear of the virus mentally and emotionally crippled and dis-empowered a lot of my patients and their family members. I saw how they felt, lost, angry and hopeless at times that they couldn’t do anything outside of getting their treatments and staying locked away because having a low immune system meant they could get really sick or die. I would do my best to educate them on how they could build their immune systems and I quickly realized, some of the basic things I was saying to them about hydration and vitamins was almost a shock. Then I started to educate them on preventative care and that information seemed to be very new also. That’s when I realized that not only knowledge of preventative care but types of preventative care was rarely known. So, I decided I wanted to not only educate but provide a service geared towards this. To help my patients and community know what’s available to them when it comes to preventative health and feel empowered to make better choices.
What should our readers know about your business?
I think what sets us apart is the approach we take towards holistic care and educating our community. We are not only an IV business, we care about our customers’ over all well being so we are always bringing in coaches, mental health professionals, herbalists, energy workers, etc to work with our clients if they express the desire. This way, they feel seen and heard as an individual not just another number on our boards. For us this is true health and helping to create this type of community is priceless. This is what I’m most proud of and excited to see the evolution of within our business.
I would say I got to this point in my business career because of hard work, consistency and finding the courage to take risks. This may have been said a thousand times and is so “cliche” but there’s a reason for it and that’s because it’s true! None of these are easy by any means but I’ve learnt they’re not meant to be. If they were, we wouldn’t grow and get better. We’d get stagnant and lazy. So, yes, it was and is challenging for me to do the hard work, be consistent and take risks but I try my best everyday and surround myself with people who keep me accountable for when I “fall off the wagon”. I know that my best is all that matters. That’s what keeps me going.
I want people to know that we all affect each other and we all can make a difference. We don’t have to do anything grandiose to do that, even the simplest conversation or deed can affect someone. When I truly learnt this and the extent at which it can ripple out, I decided I wanted to be conscious in my relationship with others starting by simply sharing what I know if they ask. That is where the decision to start a wellness company was birthed, just by wanting to make a difference. We are capable of so much
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I think it’s important to have a balanced trip. So a little bit of relaxing, partying, family and friends if they’re in the area and a little alone time. That’s how I like to do it! Some of my favorite places are:
The beach (obviously)
Cafe Gratitude in Venice (great vegan soul food)
Driving up the Malibu Coast
Hiking at Runyon Canyon
Backyard Bowls (delicious ascai bowls)
My Bed (most importantly)
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shout out to my dear friend and business mentor Rick Norris over at Blue-chip Macro. I don’t think I could have done with without his guidance on a daily basis.
To my life mentor Kate Siner at www.helenakate.com She taught me how to truly believe in myself and my gifts/medicine and she helped me find the courage to share them with the world.
To all my friends and family for always supporting me no matter what. I don’t ever take their love and encouragement for granted!
