We had the good fortune of connecting with Patrick Parker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Patrick, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk is a word that can be applied to anything, but in terms of following your dreams, you risk not being fulfilled in life if you do not take the chance. You risk not reaching your potential, doing mundane tasks for others growth, leaving your soul left to rot on the vine.

My journey is one that has lead me down many paths in the art world. I’m so thankful I took the risk to follow my soul and path, and trusted it would lead me to personal growth, healing, and discovery.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My creative focus is on creating “Fantaseascapes” influenced by the beautiful tropical islands around the world, especially Hawaii where I currently reside. When I create a piece of art, it comes from a feeling, an emotion, an experience… and then I capture that in vivid colors and compositions. I live on Maui, surf its waters, hike its mountains, and play in its waterfalls, giving me endless inspiration to express my experiences through art.

The hardest part about being an artist to me is finding the balance between what sells consistently and exploring new ways to create. It’s easy to get up every morning and make art for myself with no intention of selling what I made, but that doesn’t pay the bills. The predicament that an artist will face is that if you make something that others want to buy, you might have to create many similar versions of it, possibly draining your creative juices.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Pretty sure everyone knows how beautifully awesome Hawaii is. When friends visit I take them to my favorite uncrowded beaches, secret waterfalls and hikes, and hit the best local food on the island. The thing is, I won’t tell you where they are at because the island of Maui is already so popular, the locals want to keep the secrets a secret.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be where I am at without the support of my family from day one. They encouraged me to explore the arts, picked me up when times were hard, pushed me to achieve my goals, and are my biggest cheerleaders.
