We had the good fortune of connecting with Patrina Haupt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Patrina, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Yes, my company Natural Hair Queen sells natural hair care products and educates on the topic of healthy hair care practices in the natural hair community of African American women. Our goal is to speak openly and freely about hair topics and concerns.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Natural Hair Queen is a natural hair care company that is dedicated to producing 100% natural and high-quality products for African American women who struggle with dry hair.

I was motivated to create Natural Hair Queen products out of my own hair struggles which at the time was short, dry, and brittle. I could not get my hair to grow past my earlobes due to heat damage and mediocre hair care products. I went from ear lobe length hair to waist length with good hair care practices. I began a natural hair care blog called: Natural Hair Queen and documented what I was doing and what I was learning along my hair care journey. First, I provide my customers with education then provide resources for healthier hair without the use of chemicals.  Ultimately, what sets me a part from the others is that you can see my hair growth through my blog post, Facebook videos, and blog post, and newsletters. I truly practice all of the tips and techniques I educated my community on.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were to come to town I would take them to Disneyland for the day and by nightfall, I would take them to the Anaheim Packing District they have the most diverse and amazing food options. We definitely would need to make a stop at the Blind Rabbit for a great cocktail. Over the next week, I would introduce my best friend to Ramen and Cajun food from HiroNori Craft Ramen and Cajun Crawfish. We would relax at Glen Ivy Hot Springs.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I definitely want to give a shoutout to my family, friends, and coaches over the years who have helped guide me along the way. The love and encouragement I receive from mentors play a huge role in the success of Natural Hair Queen.
