We had the good fortune of connecting with Patti Kane and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Patti, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
After the pandemic, I starting thinking about disposable we are as employees while owners continue their cashflow. I want to be sure I am able to sustain myself and possible help others if the economy makes it necessary.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m employed in corporate America, so I definitely have 2 separate lives. I intertwine the 2 by taking the business sense from corp America and using it propel and sustain my DJ/production business. I use the social skills I’ve accrued to remain “corporate cordial”. Both have taught me how to move, when to speak and when to shut up and observe.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First, I’m a foodie, so we’re going to one of my favorite spots. Either Andros Diner, “down neck” in Newark. Harold’s Deli in Edison or one of halal spots in the area.

Next, we’re finding an underground house event (if I’m not already booked for one).

We are definitely doing some light shopping.

I’m showing them my new studio space and some of my projects.

We’re going to a day or 2 of chill and catch-up time.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I need to recognize my cousin and teacher, Deep Master Ryan. My journey began in his living room, on a coffee table back in 1989.
